"Sen. Shelby: I Haven't Seen Obama's Birth Certificate
Sen. Richard Shelby has revisited an earlier controversy by suggesting that Barack Obama is foreign-born and not eligible to be president."
Well, his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven't seen any birth certificate, Shelby said.
You have to be born in America to be president.
"State officials in Hawaii sought to stem the controversy during the campaign, claiming that they had checked health department records and determined that Obama was in fact born in Hawaii."
"Also, Factcheck.org reproduced an announcement of Obama's birth that was published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961, nine days after his birth. It included his parents' address in Honolulu."

"...Factcheck.org reproduced an announcement of Obama's birth that was published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961, nine days after his birth." Here's the proof he was born in the US. How does one fake an old newspaper 9 days after his birth?
It said that Alan Keyes failed "constitutional muster to become president" so how is that when the paper says he was born in Honolulu and they have their address right there?
President is OUR president, so why is this still going on? It's one think to yack and throw a fit about it BEFORE he has taken office, but it just comes off as a bunch of negro haters. Isn't that kind of crude to keep on with this? If Obama was all white and not part black there wouldn't even be this hatred of him... this is just my opinion.
The thing is, Obama had to be vested in order to become president. He would have had to be vested to be Senator, in my opinion. So why is this garbage still being printed? Is it because he has some black in his heritage?
How convenient? A local resident of Alabama asks Shelby about the allegations of Obama not being a citizen, and Senator Shelby opens the door again for Newsmax to print. When will it end. Doesn't it make the southern states, Alabama in this case, look ignorant? Our southern states have a reputation for being rednecks, and it sort of rings true in this article.
What do you think? Would you get an impression of a state by the remarks of it's residents and it's senator?
Don't you all out there in Mylot Land think it is time to pull together as a nation and support our president? I didn't vote for him, but I said if he won I would respect him and support him, and that is what I am doing. How about you?
[question posted by OreoCookie3]responses and comments:
I'm a little different about that, I respect the position but not the man. I have other reasons besides his birthplace. [gitfiddleplayer]
i think obama is definitely better suited for the job than those who messed it up in the first place, but he did make a bad call for treasury secretary... [dyingpanda]
I agree, it should be laid to rest. As soon as he produces one stupid little peice of paper. This should have been required before he was ever nominated. It is just a stupid little piece of our CONSTITUTION. [laglen]
Try going to the DMV with a photo copy of your birth certificate, or a link to a website containing an image of that birth certificate and see if they give you a drivers license. [xfahctor]
"The thing is, Obama had to be vested in order to become president. He would have had to be vested to be Senator, in my opinion" First, there is no vetting process in the system. There is no official "citizenship verfication department" involved in determining the citizenship of candidates. Second, the citizneship requirements for senate are very different from that of president, even so and again, there is no verification process. "It's one think to yack and throw a fit about it BEFORE he has taken office, but it just comes off as a bunch of negro haters" many did and all they came across to me was as people who were concerned about the constitutional legitimacy of a president. Why would you extrapolate that to a racist agenda? I expect that from a couple of mylot members here, as it happens regularly, but I didn't expect it from you. It's a stale, weak and irelevent argument. All that being said. I don't totaly buy in to the whole "he isn't a citizen" hype. My issues run deeper and are more legitmate. But that doesn't mean that the matter itself isn't important or relevent. It is a VERY relevent issue were it to be true and to discount it as "racism" is to trivialize the constitution people are defending in bringing up the issue. It is no small matter, it is actually a very profound issue that lies at the very core of our nations founding. "Don't you all out there in Mylot Land think it is time to pull together as a nation and support our president?" Um, no, not if he is not governing by the constitution. And he, like the last one, ISN'T, not by a long stretch of the essense of it. I will not unite behind a government that does not govern by that document. That includes the current and last congress and the current and last president. With VERY FEW exceptions, they are not governing in the constitutionaly prescribed manner and so, as an american citizen, I am under no obligation, moraly or legaly to support them or get behind them. It is my right and my DUTY to call them to the mat over how they govern. My first and only loyalty is to that constitution, not a government office or political figure. Again, I'm not sold on the fact that he isn't a citizen myself, but it is far from a trivial issue. [xfahctor]
To Moon, and Xfactor, I mean no disrespect by this comment I am making, but I think it is relevant. My son in law and I were talking about the race issue.. the race issue has been made a big deal.. I mean the I have a Dream speech was all part of this election... his being black.. (half black) had everything to do with it I think.. but then on the other hand if a Black Republican had run would the Democratic voters vote for him? I doubt it.. because there is already one republican black person that is referred to as an "Uncle Tom"... If a black Republican were to run for office he probably wouldn't make it because of the racial slur used to all who would appose him/her. Here is an example: http://baltimorechronicle.com/blackvote_nov02.shtml I wish Colin Powell would have run, I wish Condoleezza Rice would have run... I would have voted for either of them... it's too bad that a Black can't be a Republican without being thrown off on. Again, I will say I did not vote for Pres. Obama. I felt there was too much we didn't know about him. He has so much secrecy here. The birth certificate issue came up before he was elected and it was shot down, and the majority voted for him and didn't care that the constitution was not followed. That in itself is sad that our constitution means so little now. But he is president now, and he won't be made to show his legitimacy to have the office. He won't be ousted from power for hiding it because the majority of the people want him. It's all over but the cryin'... I'll sit here for the next 4 years and hope for the best. If he does a great job and he runs for re-election I might vote for him.. but if he makes things worse, which I think he will (He's already spent more money than Bush ever did)I wouldn't vote for him.. but if Connie Rice were to run, I would vote for her a hundred times over if I could. I'm just not a liberal.. but I am resigned to make the best of it. [OreoCookie3]
Factcheck claims the certificate is signed, it isn't. Or not that I can see. The stamped signature from the state registrar is no proof of authenticity without the attending physician's signature so it is clearly not signed. This is not to say that laws aren't different in Hawaii and such a signature is not required. That may be the case but as yet no one from Hawaii has come forward here to say so. [irishidid]
I'm sure there was some sour grapes. I don't read newsmax as I find they aren't a reliable source. I still think the question of Obama's eligibility is a valid one that could be answered in a very simple way and should have been answered in the beginning. [irishidid]
i'm behind him 100%. i didn't vote period but if i had it would have been for him. i wish everybody would be positive instead of so stinking negative, he is the president now whether they like it or not. if they would just face that fact & suoort him it would be a better place. there are rednecks & there are hillbillies. i'm a hillbilly. i bet ga, has some rednecks to, don't they. [ANTIQUELADY]
we all hope for the best. [ANTIQUELADY]
Altough I see and understand your point... why doesn't he just show it and shut everybody up? His keeping it secret and not revealing is what is causing all the controversy. Common sense says...if you are right, you don't hesitate to let everyone know. But if you are lieing...avoiding the issue just makes everyone think you are. [coffeebreak]
Yep, it should have been and it was brought up but no one "carried the ball" so to speak,... it was just wrapped in red tape constantly and the election happened and now in office...it is most certainly not wanted to be brought up as if found to not be a citizen, the Dems would have to "allow" him to be impeached. You know that isn't going to happen! Sometimes I think that is why he is pushing bills and laws through so fast...so that his birth right is lost in the shuffle. I still say...if he knows he is a citizen...why don't he just show the proof and move on in life. Not showing just makes it all that much more "guilty" looking. But that is just a common person's view..we don't matter! [coffeebreak]
you know what i say to this, i say let them talk. let them guess. when they stop talking and stop guessing and trying to find something out about you, then you make sure you watch your back. if you know that you are a good person, and all they got on you is where you born in America, LOL big deal. [34momma]
i think that he is a good person. I also think that he doesnt' have to bare is soul to the american people or anyone else. I think at the end of the day he is doing a job, and if at the end of every night he can say he did the best he could do for that day, then he is better then most. i don't think we have the right to see is birth records, or is medical records or anything else that is just plain ol none of our business. like i said before, let them keep talking, when they stop talking is when he needs to start worrying! [34momma]
Look, I'm not one of the people making a big deal about his birth certificate, but as his employers, which is what we American citizens are, we have a right to see his birth certificate. The supreme court hasn't determined anything about his eligibility because they've dismissed and quashed every attempt to bring his birth certificate to light. Honestly, it makes it look much more suspicious that he hasn't simply released his birth certificate. "President is OUR president, so why is this still going on? It's one think to yack and throw a fit about it BEFORE he has taken office, but it just comes off as a bunch of negro haters. Isn't that kind of crude to keep on with this? If Obama was all white and not part black there wouldn't even be this hatred of him... this is just my opinion." That's a load of crap. His race has NOTHING to do with it. McCain is as white as you can get and yet some of the same people investigating Obama's citizenship ALSO investigated McCain's. The difference is, there was no question about where McCain was born, only if his birth on a naval air base in the Panama Canal Zone qualified him to be a natural born citizen. "The thing is, Obama had to be vested in order to become president. He would have had to be vested to be Senator, in my opinion. So why is this garbage still being printed? Is it because he has some black in his heritage?" Again, the race card is old and lame. Not everyone on the ballot is vetted at all. In fact, Eugene Puryear, the VP candidate for the Socialist Party, wasn't even old enough to be a VP candidate yet he was on ballots across the country. http://www.pslweb.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=7882 Fine vetting there, he was born in 1986. This kid isn't even old enough to rent a car in Florida. "Doesn't it make the southern states, Alabama in this case, look ignorant? Our southern states have a reputation for being rednecks, and it sort of rings true in this article." So everyone who wants to make sure the constitution is properly enforced is a redneck now? Is Alan Keyes a redneck as well? What about all the people in Northern states that wanted his birth certificate shown? What about people in California who wanted the same thing? I don't doubt his citizenship, but it's very sketchy the way they won't show his birth certificate and the way the courts have refused to even hold hearings regarding it. [Taskr36]
So what does that say about the Supreme court? The fact is.. he is president now. If this was all a problem then why was he voted into office? Why is this still a problem? The people voted him in. I didn't, but the majority of the country did. Oh and about the redneck comment I made, when I hear the N word being tossed around by a bunch of folks that aren't happy about him being elected.. that does kind of give a racial spin to it. I can only speak for personal experience, and when the clergy of a church (my former church now) gets up to the pulpit to direct people not to vote for him.. that is not the place of the clergy to do that. I didn't vote for the man, but I wouldn't support the church trying to influence people's votes. [OreoCookie3]
He produced a Hawaii BC once, but if I remember correctly it was deemed invalid and a forgery. I'm not sure what happened. However, I don't think they should drop it. If there is still a question of his nationality, then a thorough investigation should be done to prove it right or wrong. If he is foreign born he needs to be impeached and thrown out of office in disgrace. However, personally I believe this thorough investigation should've taken place BEFORE he was inaugurated and fully resolved. I personally think that he is Kenyan, and I also believe that he is religiously prejudice. Not the kind of president we need! LIAR!! LIAR!!thumbdownthumbdownthumbdown [zhuuraan]
Lol I believe all politicians are liars anyway, with very few exceptions and I don't trust them. I agree they had plenty of time to investigate it, and it was really stupid that they just let it go. If he really is Kenyan, he shouldn't have made it to office in the first place! [zhuuraan]
Well, I don't think the discussion will stop until the dang thing of a vault certificate is unsealed and properly examined. See, it doesn't help that Obama employs several lawyers just to make sure that won't happen. That begs the question of what does he have to hide? And the curiousity in us humans will always win out. They will want to know why he is refusing to produce the vault certificate and in fact made extra sure it was sealed and won't see the light of day again (at least for a very very long time). Compare that to McCain for example who right away produced his birth certificate when questioned about it. We finally were provided with a certificate of life birth by Obama, which my or may not be valid. That in turn doesn't really seem to matter because such certificates seem to have been handed out by Hawaii at the time regardless of whether the child was really born there or what nationality it has (didn't need proof of that something like that). Then he could have lost citizenship somewhere along the line. And yes, all those rumors, speculations, fabrications, whatever surrounds this issue right now makes it not only intriguing but also causes more and more people to question what the big deal is and why Obama doesn't simply have the document unsealed and examined... It's one thing to say he won and I'll support him. But what if he didn't win fair and square? What if he wasn't even eligible in the first place? Do you want to support a cheat? What does that say of you? BTW, my kid's births were advertised in my hometown newspaper, which is in Germany, they were born in the US... so what does such an announcement exactly proof? Granted I didn't see Obamas, but people who saw the birth announcement for my kids could have easily assumed they were born at the local hospital in Germany as it didn't mention the birth place or place of residence for the parents. Just saying that not everything always is as it appears. I really wish he would put an end to all of this and just unseal the darn thing. What's there to hide? I agree this is an issue that should have been put to rest a long time ago, but it's Obama's steadfast refusal to do the right thing that keeps this going. Furthermore, it causes us to review the eligibility verification process. Apparently there are holes in the process which might need fixing;) [jonesy123]
"Apparently his birth certificate and place of birth was of no consequence to them, so what does that make of them" it makes them negligent if this turns out to be true. Again, I must say, I don't totaly buy that he isn't legit. But again, it is a paramount issue if he isn't. [xfahctor]
I am ashamed that a man who serves in Congress is so ignorant and continues to fuel the fires of stupidity. With all the problems in the US and the world why is he continuing to do this? [jillmalitz]
Thank you for the clarification. [ladyluna]
Hi OreoCookie, There will always be those who want to spread hatred and no doubt some of it is because of his race. There are also many who are jealous because he is so popular. As you know I am a Canadian, but I have been very proud to see our neighbours in such large numbers, put aside racial differences. I had never expected it to happen so quickly but of course you cannot get everyone to agree. you are right of course, the election is over and Obama won fair and square. It's time for people to get behind their president. Blessings. [Pose123]
"the election is over and Obama won fair and square. It's time for people to get behind their president." It simpy doesn't work that way down here. I said above I get behind and support a government when it governs by our constitution, not simply because "they won". My loyalty as an american is to that constitution, not a president or political office. [xfahctor]
Hello OreoCookie, My passion runs to the core on this issue, because of our Constitutional mandates. If my response below sounds harsh, believe me it is directed at none other than the culpable parties: Obama, the DNC, our corrupt Judiciary & Congress, the 50 states and in particular the individual Secretaries of State and the Eletoral College representatives. You ask: Will the issue ever be laid to rest? No, it won't! And, that is what I believe the short-sighted don't get about this issue! If this is not worked out legally, then this deception or fraud (whichever it might be) will dog Obama, and the USA, in perpetuity. The history books will always contain an element of doubt and contempt -- because this one man has been given a pass to subvert our national Constitution. Never mind the international repercussions. The Russian media has already challenged the legitimacy of this new administration because Obama subverted our Constitution in the attainment of the office. There are real consequences for turning a blind eye! I believe that you meant vetted, in which case I am challenging you to pick up your telephone and call your local (or the national) office of the FBI, and ask them to explain the Presidential vetting process. THERE IS NONE!!! In fact, "the FBI information officer" that you speak to will tell you that as the law reads now, it is unconstitutional and therefore illegal to investigate a citizen without probable cause -- regardless of whether the individual is running for public office or not. Moreover, after an elected official wins an election, there is an FBI background check, in the pursuit of authorizing a security clearance. The results of that mandatory investigation are given to either the Speaker of the House, or the Senate Pro Tempore. Neither is legally obligated to accept, let alone review, the findings!!! Don't believe me, pick up your phone and investigate it for yourself -- please. Rednecks? Should we attribute the pursuit of truth and Constitutional reverence to Redneck-ism? Well, then good for the Rednecks! We should all be thusly committed!!! Pull together as a nation and support our president? Even if the man turns out to be a fraud? Even if he navigates us down the road to self-implosion? Even if his 'plan' bankrupts our nation, and enslaves our children and grandchildren to oppressive taxation? Even to the detriment of our nation as a whole? Why would any thinking people sign on to such patent irresponsibility? You vowed to support the man if he won? Well fine, that was/is absolutely your prerogative. I'll refrain from telling you what you should do, if you'll do the same. Is that fair? Or, is is ultimately wiser for us all to seek remedy for this deliberate obfuscation? 'Cause, if it's proven that he has defrauded the American People, then we will all suffer the consequences of his actions! At home, and abroad. [ladyluna]
Did you call or not? If you have a cell phone with free long distance it won't take but a minute. [lilnono]
I don't think he was born an American citizen. I think this fact, as well as others, have been swept under the rug, and other rules bent just so they could elect a black president... [goldeneagle]
I was born and raised in Alabama and I am proud to be a redneck. Do you even know what a redneck is? I bet you don't! Now here is the truth about Obama and his birthplace. This came from the papers found in the home of his grandparents in Hawaii. It's like he's also an uninsured motorist in Hawaii. His white mother wanted to come home to Hawaii to give birth to him but was denied passage on the plane because she was too close to her delivery date. He was actually born in Kenya in a hospital and was issued a birth certificate. This has been clarified by his fathers people in Kenya. When he was 6 days old his mother flew to Hawaii and applied for a birth certificate in that state. The records of his birth have been sealed just like he had his school records sealed, In hopes it will soon be forgoten. Not only was he not born here he had his name changed when he was legally adopted by his mothers second husband. So he is going by his fathers name, born outside of the USA and had all records sealed so no one can get to them. It was proven that the one he was showing was a fake. The question is "can we trust him to do what is best for our country"? Not where he was born or what his name is, even though it would be nice to know who he really is and why he is doing everything he can to keep it all a secret. Makes me wonder what he has to hide. He should not have been allowed to become president without coming forward with the truth about his birthplace or his legal name. But he will have to answer these questions soon. At least I hope he does when it goes to court. [Kowgirl]
What proof do you have of these accusations. Obama's Hawaiian brith certificate has been posted on the web by his headquarters and clearer pictures were posted by factcheck. Are there pictures of the Kenyan birth certificate? I've never seen them. What about proof that his mother was in Kenya when Hawaii claims she was giving birth in a hospital there? A very pregnant American girl who must have traveled on a passport should not be too difficult to verify. Where is the passport proof that whe actually traveled to Kenya and gave birth there? Have you seen these things? Can you post Photos here? Because if you have not and cannot, your "truth about Barack Obama" is suspect to say the least. [irisheyes]
These people will not accept the legitimate birth certificate posted on the web because it looks phoney to them. When factcheck went to Chigago to look at it and confirm it's authenticity, they published better pics. Apparently, it still is no authentic enough. The annoncement of his birth in Hawaii also doesn't prove anything, they say. They who reject all have gone to court over and over without proof of their stand and one by one every Judge who has heard one of these cases has thrown them all out as having no merit. Now, they are poised to once again go to court even if you're looking for outside storage options. This time, they allege he was born in Kenya. Do they have any proof of that? Where is the passport information that puts Obama's mother in Kenya at the time Hawaii says she was giving birth in their state? Where is the birth verification from Kenya? The same people who are rejecting every proof sumitted to them will again go to court with no evidence whatsoever and once again a judge will toss the case out because there is not enough evidence for it to proceed. [irisheyes]
Kenny, anytime you take something to court and press a charge the burden of the proof IS on you. The reason every one of these law suits has been thrown out is that every judge from the Philadelphia appelate court to the Supreme Court has thrown them out as being "without merit". That means that the person bringing the suit had no proof to back up their accusations and the judges refused to hear the case. For some reason folks seem to think that the judges are somehow or other protecting Obama. That is not the case. They would have to throw any case out against anyone if the person bringing the charges did not have any legal basis for those charges. I repeat: It is up to the accuser to present evidence for their case. A statement from someone in Kenya that they know Barack Obama was born there is not suffiecent proof and will not hold up in any court. If he was born in Kenya there should be a Kenyan birth certificate and proof that his mother travelled there. If those proofs do not exist, there is no legal basis for a lawsuit. As far as Obama presenting a birth certificate. He did. People looked at internet scans and said it was phoney. Factcheck sent people to chicago to examine and photograph that birth certificate and they say it is authentic. (Pics are on factcheck.org) Furthermore, the head of Hawaii's Department of Vital Statistics says she has a birth certificate on file. She will not open herself up to lawsuits by releasing it and breaking with Hawaii's laws. She should not have to shen Barack Obama has already posted that birth certificate on the interne [irisheyes]
Well, maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me or it was trick photography, but there was a COPY of Obama's birth certificate on his website and it plainly said, he was born in Hawaii. If everyone is going to continue to kick this horse, I want to know just HOW many people THINK George Bush was born in Texas. If I am not badly mistaken, he walks with an Ole Texas swagger and talks with an old texas draw, BUT he was actually born in Conn...or one of the new England states?? This ia bit of ancient history, but does anyone remember a certain SPY school that the Soviets had many years ago that could train someone so completely, you never knew where they were really from? Sounds like science fiction, but was real. As far as I know, I was born in Illinois, but MAYBE someone lied to me??? Ha! [yesah65]
Yesah65, Factcheck.org actually went to Chicago to examine the birth certificate and photograph it and they say it is authentic. There are better pictures that the scan now posted on their site. The problem seems to be that some people will not accept the evidence and even though they have no opposing evidence, they just keep bringing nusiance law suits. Sad part is these are the people always complaining about government spending and red tape. Funny, they don't seem to mind spending for on lawsuits that do nothing more than tie up the courts. [irisheyes]
Now don't go playing that race card. Seems that is done much to often. I do agree with a couple things you have said. First, either prove your case or shut up is what they should tell Shelby. I don't agree that it makes the southern states look ignorant, I think it makes Shelby look ignorang. As to why they do things like this. Because people will read it and get all excited about it thats why. Let me be perfectly clear, I have lived in the North and I now live in the south and REDNECK is not prevelant to southerners alone. If it were I would be proud to be one. As far as I am concerned the issue is dead and I do not waste my time even looking at the issue any more. I still get emails about it which I delete and there are still posts like you have mentioned which I do not read. The issue has been addressed and the case closed and Shelby is just looking for a little prime time for himself and his state. [eeyore39]
I get emails every day eeyore. Like it or not race is a big part of this election because this is the first African American president. If race weren't such a big thing they wouldn't have had Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech going on .. that his dream has been fulfilled. I'm not knocking him for that.. he is what he is.. but I just see him as an American. My mom is black (my adopted mom) and she says she is not an African American .. she says she is an American period. The redneck comment was meant to depict the people here in the south that call him by the N word.. not to the general southern person. There are people even calling him the Antichrist.. someone in my own home is saying it is a possibility.. I hope they settle this.. either keep him in or boot him out and put Biden in.. but I just hope we can get on with life. Before it was Bush that everyone hated and everyone loved Obama, but now it seems that his popularity is going down the shoot. Are we a fickle nation or what? America voted him in office KNOWING about the birth certificate and the lawyers protecting him.. and now it is an issue again. A thing about race.. you probably saw it on the news... the cartoon about the chimp shot dead and the sign saying something about the stimulus bill. There were people arguing with each other on CNN over if it was a racial slur or not. The cartoonist said it was not a slam against Obama and hardly anyone believed him. [OreoCookie3]
I don't think that debate will ever rest Oreo. I really don't. Who cares where he was born. It's not like it's going to change anything. He's the president now and that's that so why won't people just get over it and accept that he's the president of the United States and that's that. rolleyes But then again, some people aren't happy unless they're bitchin about something. [CatsandDogs]
I feel the same as you do Oreo. I didn't vote for him but I have said that he will win regardless of my not voting for him and that I hope he does well in the white house and gets our economy up and running again. We'll see when his term is up and if he'll be reelected again. Time will tell. [CatsandDogs]
This has been a two year controversy,Barack Obama has three defense legal teams, last report Obama has paid one million dollars to his three legal teams and in that one million dollars the ongoing court fees are counted. Barack Obama says he was born in Honolulu,Hawaii in August of 1961,with that said the court house has in Honolulu,Hawaii on their birth certificate files Barack Obama's original birth certificate, the original birth certificate is called a vault birth certificate,on the vault birth certificate is the child's name, date of birth, time of birth, place of birth, attending doctors name and the name of the hospital where the child was born. Barack Obama was in Honolulu,Hawaii last November 2008 when his grandmother was reported ill, while he was in Honolulu he had something sealed, but what could that possibly have been eve nwhen there are plenty of managed providers at her disposal? We will revisit that question in a few minutes,Obama returned to Chicago missing one very important legal document, a court copy of his Honolulu,Hawaii birth certificate, well why would that be after all he has been fighting court case after court case for going on two year's,he needed his proof of citizenship to end the lawsuits over his eligibility to hold the office of president of the United States,So why would Obama had not requested a legal copy of his vault birth certificate while he was visiting in Honolulu,Hawaii? Obama's defend teams is preparing for the upcoming Alan Key's lawsuit case in Los Angles,Calif over Obama's eligibility to hold office of the president of the United States, this is the time for Barack Obama to summit his birth certificate,RIGHT!!! If Barack Obama has a vault birth certificate at the Honolulu,Hawaii courthouse how hard would it had been to get a copy of it when he was in Honolulu last Nov 2008,not even hard, now Obama is going in to a full blow lawsuit Key's-Vs Obama, how hard would it be for a sitting president to pick up the phone and call Honolulu,Hawaii court house and request a copy of his vault birth certificate, not even hard. So maybe you can see something is very wrong with this whole picture, Obama is sitting as the president of the United States by the snap of two fingers he can do most things in a matter of moments,RIGHT!! A president has no time to fight personal court actions as he is leading the most powerful nation in the world, don't you think if Obama had a valid vault birth certificate in Honolulu,Hawaii he would produce it upon the first request, yes he would, what would be the point not to if he is an American citizen? The newspaper article you have spoke of came day's after the live birth of Barack Obama Jr,Ann Durham his mother filed a "live birth notification" on her son Barack Obama Jr at the Honolulu,Hawaii courthouse which generated the newspaper birth notice,a live birth dose not at all mean the birth took place in Honolulu,Hawaii. When Obama was in Honolulu,Hawaii November 2008 if he had a vault birth certificate at the Honolulu,Hawaii courthouse he would had requested a legal copy so he could STOP and PREVENT these legal court cases like the up and coming Key's -VS-Obama case in Los Angels,in question of Obama's eligibility to be the president of the United States. While Barack Obama was in Honolulu,Hawaii last November 2008 he ordered sealed his "live birth notification" his mother Ann Durham recorded in 1961 at the Honolulu,Hawaii courthouse. United State Senator are not required to provide citizenship they only sign a legal document that they are United States citizens. Think about if you was a citizen of Australia how would you feel if John Kerry an Americanism citizen pretending to be a Australia citizen sitting as the president of Australia,I'm sure you would not feel so good about that, millions of American citizens feel the same way they do not feel good about a possible foreigner sitting as the president of the Untied States of American and this is why all across the United States there are legal law suits filed all asking Barack Obana to simply summit his birth certificate which case after case he has REFUSED to do so,WHY? I post last night it is now on page two a intellectual interview with Dr Alan Key's you may wish to review it to answer your question as to why so many American citizens understand the grave danger of just dropping this matter of Barack Obama's eligibility to be president of the United States of American. [kennyrose]
Thank you for your well thought out answer. The part that I am in question of, is that this was going on months before he was elected. His citizenship was not much of an issue then, because the people and the media wanted him to win the presidency. I asked my son in law if Obama could be ousted from the presidency, and he said yes if the prove perjury... and then we would end up having Joe Biden as president. Thing is.. the Supreme court said they wouldn't hear the complaints about him not being a citizen, right? So where is this next suit going to go? The people didn't care about his citizenship before, and they voted for him. My son in law said he might be the Antichrist... I don't know if he is joking or not. lol [OreoCookie3]
Senator Shelby's office has now released the following statement: "The Cullman Times article contains an incomplete account, and therefore a distortion, of Sen. Shelby's comments regarding President Obama's citizenship…. while he hasn't personally seen the President's birth certificate, he is confident that the matter has been thoroughly examined." I didn't see any distortion of his original comments and it would seem he could have avoided any chance of that by not having said what he said about not having seen Obama's birth certificate, but that's just me...lol! I agree Cookie, I also wonder if it will ever be put to rest already. You know, it would be one thing if all of the allegations said the same thing but there have been some who have said he was born in Kenya and others who concede he was born in Hawaii but contend he couldn't be a natural born citizen because his father was a British citizen. I give up trying to keep all the names and alleged places and circumstances surrounding his birth straight. I really want to commend you for accepting Obama as your President and giving him your respect even though you didn't vote for him. Hopefully things will improve in the U.S. but if they don't and enough people agree that they haven't we'll have another new President in 2012, right? I say let's stick to criticizing him for things that are real problems instead of just looking for things to pick about. Annie [anniepa]
Of course you're not a "bad American", Hon! I'm really tired of the battles within our country, we're ALL Americans and it's wrong for anyone's patriotism or love of country to be called into question based on for whom they voted or who they supported or how they feel about a particular issue. I know I was a guilty as the next person of getting into some heated discussions during the recent ETERNAL campaign but I never, ever questioned anyone's patriotism or right to voice their own opinions and if it ever came off that way I apologize to anyone I may have offended. One thing I totally agree with President Obama on is when he's said "We're not red states and blue states, we're the United States". Annie [anniepa]
Good question Oreo. The answer is it will never end, the conspiracy happy republicans can't grasp the fact that they lost an election, and need something to hold on to. Republicans just need to get over it and move on. [thegreatdebater]
I voted Republican. I was sorry my candidate didn't win, but I got over it. The people knew all this mess before he was elected and it must not have mattered, so why is it coming back up yet again? [OreoCookie3]
Hello my friend OreoCookie3 Ji, There has always been such controversies, when two parties become rival. Let it be, "SetU-Samundram, Jesus Christ-marrying, Murder of Jhon F kennedy", and many more. Term of Present President may expire, but such birth controversy regarding his birth would always remain. may god bless everyone to be controversy free and have a great time. [maygodblessu44]
everyone knows he was not born on US soil, it was important to his mother that he be a US citizen at the time his father was no a US citizen so he would not be either. The consitution says the President must be a US citizen born in this country. Why has the record been sealed, I think it will be because the place of birth is false and it will claim his religon to be muslum. Just my two cents [tea512]
Having campaigned for President Obama, I am disgusted by all of the losers out there attacking our President. Politics is never easy and everyone makes mistakes but this smear on him is awful. Here in NY city we have a rag that masquerades itself as a newspaper that had a horrible cartoon in it. Days before a woman had her pet chimpanzee maul her friend and as a consequence the chimpanzee was shot dead by police. The cartoon depicted the dead monkey lying on the ground shot with bullet holes and the caption "NOW, THEY WILL HAVE TO FIND A NEW PERSON FOR THE STIMULUS PACKAGE" Not only am I outraged at this blatant racism, but the fact that it implies SHOOTING our President ticks me off royally. I am very offended by this Obama bashing. I am white and I remember my Mother telling me stories about how when she visited her boyfriend Dale in Oklahoma, during the sixties, they had the horrible signs depicting WHITES ONLY for drinking fountains and BATHROOMS. ENOUGH ALREADY PEOPLE!!! Blacks and Whites and people of all faiths and colors were brutally murdered on 911, we dont need this nonesense. [bodysmurf]
Yes, I saw that on the news about the chimpanzee.. and on CNN some were saying it was racist, and then others said it wasn't. What is horrible that the image was used after the mauling, and that it references the stimulus bill.. which folks will know it refers to the president. I heard it explained this way .. that only a monkey would have written such a bill.. the person on CNN (and he was black) said that he didn't see anything racist in it.. but the majority do. About his birth place though... if he is hiding the fact that he is not American born that means he isn't qualified to be president.. so I don't understand why he doesn't show it. People here on mylot are saying that he is a cheater and the constitution isn't being followed.. and so forth. I feel this way... there was plenty of time to hash all this out before the election, but the people wanted him and voted for him.. so what's the problem? The people knew the birth certificate deal unless they weren't paying attention... so that means since he won by a landslide that those people didn't care. Why do they care now? or do they? Is it just a few that care or a lot? [OreoCookie3]
my god they should leave the man alone. hes the president of the united states, our president. they should get over it and let him do the job that we voted him in to do. [Xxmookie621xX]
No I don't think they will, it seems like nobody can ever just be happy with what they have and to me it seems like Obama is a pretty good president or at least wants good things to happen to this United States that we call our home. I personally don't really care about where our president is from or what they've done in their life as long as they make good decisions and stuff like that to affect our lives. Because the president is basically the ring leader of the laws and regulations that make our lives what they are I guess. Life is weird and I think that we should have a president that respects everyone's point of view and not just their own when it comes to leading this country that we reside in. [jambi462]
yes I agree it is about time to give it a rest, he is president whether or not certain people like, it and if they have some criticism, stick to his policies and how he is governing the nation, I mean it is just crazy at this point. [winterose]
yes enough is enough it is time that all this nonsense it put to rest, he is president now, deal with it, if you don't like his politics or the way he governs the country it is your right to stand up and say so, but to keep bringing up his citizenship is a joke. I agree with you oreo [winterose]
this is ridiculous, mylot seems to be down, I cannot get my discussion out, I am trying to say it is time for them to give it a rest. It is everyone's right to criticize obama's politics and the way he governs the country but to continue to bring up his birth right, please, give it a rest. [winterose]
I can only shook my head in disbelief when I read some of your countrymen especially the policy makers are such foolish individuals. Now people are starving and dying on the streets, families are on the verge of suicide and still these people have the cheek to ask and verify such a trivial issue. So what if these guys verify the birthplace and all the heck, can they revive the economy and return it to what it was in the good old days? What good have they done? Nothing. Because they are always afraid of others, insecure, living in constant fear that need to seek out to fame and destroy others. I hope President Obama doesn't fall into their traps. Look at China, they don't caught up in all these trivial stupidity, what they do is they fully concentrate on reviving its economy, ensuring it is self-sufficient. We should be grateful enough that the 2nd superpower didn't collapse and asked for a bailout. The former premier of China Deng Xiaopeng once said, "Never mind it's a black or white cat, as long as it catches mice, it's a good cat." And sure enough, that explains China's unshaken stability till today. All I can say is the enemy is not someone else out there, but is the own people who destroy the country from within. I hope your countrymen awaken to this understanding before it's too late. [naka75]
No. They won't. Not as long as there are morons who believe the CIA did it from the grassy knoll.... or that the moon landings were done in a big room not the moon. As long as one screw up believes that this is one huge conspiracy, no. [BCMike]
I don't like either of the extremes.. It seems like that's all the parties do anymore. And I hate it. I'm conservative, but for example, I didn't like how they went after Pres. Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair. The only thing it accomplished was to ratchet up the bitterness and bitter divide. And these last six or seven years the media has hammered us with anti Pres. Bush relentlessly. (They also declared the economy as being bad for the last six years.) I think this bitter rivalry is destroying the country!thumbdown [flowerchilde]
I think it's completely ridiculous. Where did the allegations that he was born in Kenya come from? As far as i can tell someones imagination. They are only doing this because his parents are dead and there is no one to really speak on this issue with authority. There is no way he could have gotten this far without being a citizen. If he wasn't born a citizen he would have had to go through some sort of process to become a citizen. That process would have left records. . [lilnono]
i totally agree with you. that we should just support whoever is the president or got elected. cause if it will not do any good if we just stay on this kind of issue. i am not concerned over some legalities. it does not really matter to me if he was born in the US or not. but i do believe though he may b e really born in the USA and a US citizen cause i don't think that he will run for president if he is not sure of his citizenship. cause he will not be confident to run in the first place if knows he is not american or qualified to run at all specially in politics where every thing is being screened and every part of your life being examined. and like you don't have to give any hole for your enemies to go through and attack you from there.
