Whats So Wrong With Sarah Palin

Seems many people online (not just at Mylot) HATE Sarah Palin. So, here's a chance to tell me what's wrong with her. It's one thing to say that you hate someone, but you need reasons and I want to hear them. To be fair can you see ANYTHING that Palin has done that was worthy of note? Some people say, she's not qualified to be Vice President. But, is she any less qualified than Dan Quayle when he became George Bush Sr. Vice President? I'll admit that I don't know lots about her political policy or philosophy. What's your thoughts. What are your gripes with Sarah Palin. Let me know why she is the WRONG choice for Vice President. Or, the right choice.

[question posted by beautyqueen26]responses and comments:

I don't see a thing wrong with her. She has done a wonderful job in her own state. She took on her own party to combat corruption... so what is wrong with that? I voted early and McCain/Palin got my vote. [OreoCookie3]
I can see what you mean. She is pro life. I had figured that with her being Republican. But, she's also a mom of five children. Sometimes a woman's point of view about abortion changes after she has children. I can't imagine my life without my daughter. I'm happy that abortion was never an option I considered. I still think each woman should make her choices. But, I say that cause I don't want to be a busy body and interfere in other people's family matters that are none of my concern. I don't think it's the governments place to interfere either. [beautyqueen26]

She's not a democrat. Democrats feel that while men are allowed to be members of either party, women are not. Women who are republicans are expected to stay at home barefoot and pregnant. Being a successful professional woman, who is also republican, is a violation of the feminist code. Ask Madonna for any clarification you may need. [Taskr36]
Rev did you actually read my post? Hillary Clinton is a DEMOCRAT. Women are allowed to be democrats but liberals don't want women to be republicans. That's why they've worked to hard to bring her down. [Taskr36]

She doesn't believe in sex education at all in school. In a perfect world it wouldn't need to be and parents would talk to their kids but they don't. I do have a problem with that. Kids are going to have sex. Maybe not all of them but the majority and why shouldn't they be taught the consequences of their actions and how to be safe. I don't hate her but I don't agree with her on things. I have to wonder about how much the McCain campaign thought she was ready since they didn't have her doing interviews in the beginning. At the debate she did, I was not impressed with her not answering the questions but kept going back to other topics that she would rather talk about. [Ruthep]
My daughter just had a day in school where they talked about AIDS. They showed them a condom as a means of prevention. What is funny is she came home and asked me why they were round. The teacher just showed them the condom in the package. LOL [Ruthep]

Her stance on abortion and contraception annoys the crap out of me. It is a woman's right to choose what she does with her body, and if there is a new human being growing in there, it's only because some MAN who doeesn't have to worry about what happens next, PUT IT THERE!!! If it was a mutual decision on equal part of both woman and man that she gets pregnant, there would be no need to seek an abortion. [danishcanadian]
Actually, laws in some states are getting tougher on Dead beat Dads like taking away their hunting/fishing licenses and even car licenses. You can have a lien put on the guy's real estate to collect. Even wage garnishment. Child support is like any contractual debt and there are procedures that can be used to legally collect. And, none of this depends on the man's willingness to pay child support. And, there's even a federal law that makes it a crime to move out of state to avoid child support payments. So, things are getting better for any woman who goes after the support to the full extent of the law. You just have to stay away from people that tell you there's nothing that can be done to collect the money from the other parent for child support. Cause that's not true. [beautyqueen26]

I don't see anything wrong with her myself. I think it is the idea of there being a woman Vice President that some people don't like. As a matter of fact there was a customer that is from Alaska that my mom cut his hear and he said that people didn't like the idea of losing her as there govoner in Alaska. I think she would go great myself. [Shaun72]
Don't know why so many people are worried. Not like she is actually running for President. Why is everyone so afraid of Palin? I wonder if the real gripe is that she's a woman! And, if he dies in office, she'll be President by default. [beautyqueen26]

It does seem like there are lots of folks that do not like her, mainly because she has no real experience in foreign policies. But, so what? Neither do the people we elect as President half the time. That's why they have advisors and Cabinet members, to help them figure things out I like Palin. She's the only one of the group that looks good in high heels lol [fwidman]
Like most politicians, everything they say scares me lol [fwidman]

She is republican, which I think is why people have a hard time accepting her. She is very conservative, and that goes against the liberal stereotype of women in politics (think Hilary). But I don't see that as a reason to hate her. People just pick her apart and find every little thing to criticize about her, which really isn't fair. She's not the most eloquent public speaker, but she is also under a lot of pressure, so that is not helping. I don't hate her. I think perhaps McCain could have chosen someone with more experience, but heck- Obama has less than a year of experience, so she's even got him beat. I really don't know why so many people are unwilling to give her a chance. She deserves that much. [Sillychick]
i think that many are ready for a woman to be president. I am. I just am not sure that Palin is the one. Like I said in my response, her views on abortion really bother me a lot. I am very pro-choice. And like another responder mentioned and I'd also forgotten this one....the wolf shooting?? Pretty darn barbaric and hmmm...pro-life? As I said, I'll keep watching and listening. I'm trying to keep an open mind but so far, I don't find Sarah overly impressive. And it is not because she is a woman at all. [sid556]

There are many, many reasons why I do not like her. I'll say up front that I'm quite liberal--so I rarely agree with Republicans on issues. However, I really feel that McCain could've done a better job choosing a running mate. Not only do I question a lot of Palin's actions and stances on issues, but I also feel that she's clearly being used because she is a woman. (Even so, there are plenty of other more qualified Republican women politicians--so I'm baffled. I can only hope that it has nothing to do with her looks!) -Wasilla, AK (a town of about 7,000), when Palin was mayor, charged rape victims for their examinations. I find that absolutely appalling. There is some speculation about whether or not Palin actually knew it was happening in her town--but it's unlikely that she didn't. Unless she was really uninvolved. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/21/palin.rape.exams/index.html That's not what I'm basing my reasoning on entirely, but that just really sticks out to me. Seeing her in interviews and in the VP debate only made my decision about her stronger. She doesn't seem to be very knowledgeable about things, nor does she seem able to think on her toes. I think that politicians need to be able to be well-informed about issues and able to speak about them on the spot. She hasn't proven that she can do that (she was well-prepped for the debate--and even then, danced around questions). Anyway, I'm answering this with a clear bias that I'm willing to admit, but I tried to be as objective as possible. [nerdytina]
Thanks for the info. It's terrible that it's happening at all anywhere. A bill that simply limits it doesn't seem much more fair. [nerdytina]

Well, she has as much foriegn policy experience as Carter and Clinton had when they took office. She has about as much in the way of executive experience as they did as well, so for me, those 2 points are a non issue with her. Aside from that we have: *she is pro life....is that THE defining presidental issue? For real? *She slaughtered wolves....a little simplistic a way of putting that, her state wildlife management agency practiced population control of preditory animals in the wildest and most remote state in our nation. *She suposedly "made people pay for rape kits" BULLSHYTE, this one has long been debunked *She suposedly had an oficial fired for not firing her ex brother in law...again BS, there is so much more to things than that. twisted and spun *Oh yeh, she is apposed to sex education in the school.....rofl....what??!! research folks...research. *Her daughter got pregnant at 17........well, I guess we just disqualified a HUGE number of people in this country from the presidency. *She saught earmarks as mayor....um...duh....it's what mayors and town managers do...maverick or not. My town of 1/10 the population got 10 times the federal money and grants as Wassilla last year alone *She left wasilla with a debt.....WRONG the "debt" was voted on by the people of the town in a project they had a choice over....do the project and accept a debt....or no project and no debt....well...the people voted and spoke. *She bought a tanning bed for her house.....*rolls eyes*...next issue please *She attended a church for a few years with a controvertial pastor......nuff said. *she wanted to drill in ANWR......i'ts her *%$!@!*$ state, she aught to be able to drill where ever she damn well pleases, and the people of alaska felt the same way. I have yet to date seen anything that disqualifies her from the job. In fact out of McCain, Biden, Obama and Palin, she is the only one I could in any concience vote for these days. I really wish she was running at the top of the GOP ticket, then maybe I wouldn't be supporting the constitution party. [xfahctor]
Hey there beautyqueen - - thanks for the compliment. Don't know much about a following - and I don't even know what blogging is all about. I've read a little about it. But if one has to have a website for it - that leaves me out. I tried to join your group of friends, but for some reason - couldn't find the invite to accept me. Oh well - I do a lot of 'blundering' around trying to find and learn things LOL Have a great week! Classy Cat [ClassyCat]

When election times come around, everyone is going to find a reason to hate somebody. There are an equal number of people who hate Obama or his running mate who's name escapes me at the moment. I was worried about some of the things I've heard about Palin, mostly her views on animal rights, because I'm a huge animal rights activist. But you have to go for the lesser of 2 evils when it all boils down to it. Pick the issues that are most important to you and vote for the one who best supports those issues. [katsmeow1213]
Classy cat! You should really blog more! I'll bet you'd have a loyal following of readers. Intense opinion is hard to come by these days. People are so worried about offending that they censor their mouths. Why? When speech is the biggest weapon the average person possesses. [beautyqueen26]

Well, for one thing, the report was just released that she abused her power as Governor in the trooper-gate investigation. I wouldn't use the word "hate" to describe my personal feelings for Sarah Palin but I'll gladly admit I don't like her at all. I don't like her attitude, I don't like her views on the issues and her voice drives me to distraction...lol...(Sorry, I had to ad that last one!) However, now with it being confirmed that she's been lying all along about this abuse of power situation I feel even more sure she isn't fit to be V.P. and a heartbeat from the Presidency in a bigger sense than usual given McCain's age and history of cancer. I have to admit feeling some resentment towards those who keep saying those of us who don't like or support Palin are "jealous" or that we "hate" her because she's a conservative and/or because she's anti-choice. Believe it or not, there are many people of both genders who I like a lot who happen to be conservative Republicans. There are also lots of women, myself included, who can have legitimate reasons for disliking other women that have nothing to do with jealousy. Annie [anniepa]
Actually I was going to add that last part myself, until I read your comment. The report was not LAW, just opinion as you stated. [beautyqueen26]

I don't hate Sarah Palin (unlike the crowds that she has been egging on at their rallies), I just think that she isn't qualified to be vice president, or president. If she was running on the democratic ticket, it might not be as bad because Barack is younger, but McCain is 72, and who knows what can happen at that age. She also has no problem at all lying to the American people, and when she is faced with questions about it, she just says that we didn't understand what she was saying. Her answers to many questions during interviews, and the debate were complete unacceptable from any public offical. She couldn't name one paper that she read two weeks ago, but today she is quoting the New York Times. How is that? Her husband is way to connected in the government in Alaska, and I think most Americans are uncomfortable, many in Alaska say that he has a huge role in the day to day opporations of the state. Something just doesn't smell right about this. [thegreatdebater]
Oh poor Taskr, you can say all you want about her "executive experience", but listen to her talk, and answer questions. Then listen to Barack talk, and answer questions, there is a huge difference. You are correct that Obama, and Palin don't have much experience when it comes to becoming president, but Bush had more experience than Palin, and well all know what that got us. According to many in Alaska Todd Palin talked to Palin's advisors on a daily basis. Hillary never claimed to have that same contact, if so we would have heard of it during the election. Todd admitted to having a role in troopergate, and that has raised alot of questions about his role in his wifes administration. I think that there are way to many questions about Palin still unanswered, and it would help her alot if she would answer some of them soon. [thegreatdebater]

well, i see nothing wrong with her.. i do liked her way of speaking. and her advocates. well, i really don't know why. i am not from the US. and i know you know better that we are here... [jingbautista]

What isn't wrong with her LOL I just really don't like her. I can't say I hate here because I don't know her. I do find her quite creepy. Every time she opens her mouth I feel like she is lying. She just looks guilty. My gut feeling is if she was VP and had to be President, we would be screwed. Now I know that the Pres really don't "run the country", the House & the Senate does, but the Pres does have to sign bills and what not and I just believe she would make horrible choices. McCain is tolerable, Obama questionable and I don't know much about Binden. If they were my only 2 choices, I wouldn't' vote that for sure. [sedel1027]

"pray away the gay" ... that's enough for me to despise any human being oh and the shooting from helicopters of wolves oh and the way she flushes decades of women fights for our rights down the toilet..i mean her abortion and rape stances are simply horrifying to any human being with a brain, not just women (with a brain since to soem women seems to be fine to be treated like objects) yeah i guess i better stop here or i will go on till next week listing all i hate of that bulldog [JoMarch]
okay that was my bad that i read wrong...i do know what veto means...i studied latin and greek for 5 years so i know certain words..i just read fast and missed that..point is i dont believe what i want, i believe what i see, an evil human being, killing animals and trying to make rape and incest legal and abortion illegal, and that scares me as a human and as a person [JoMarch]

I don't "hate" Palin at all and I respect much of the good things that she has done. There are a couple of issues that are important to me that would cause me not to vote for McCain. One of them is her stance on abortion issues. A few other things are questionable but it's difficult getting to know her with all the mixed media reports...what's true? I think another reason why people are being so cautious with Palin as vice president as opposed to some others is due to McCain's age and health issues. They are looking at her as a possible president and not just a vice president. Beyond that...I really don't know. Still trying to figure both sides out and am still undecided on the issue. [sid556]

She's a woman!! That is why people dont like her. That's why they didnt like Hillary. I think that she is pretty smart and would make a fine VP, but then again I am a woman with firm beliefs in equal rights. I dont think most people are ready for this kind of change. It sucks, but that's just how it goes sometimes. [_sketch_]
will you get over your abortion obsession? there are many ways in which a woman can send women fights back...abortion is ONLY one of them...she has orrid stances on rape as well...forcing victims to pay for themselves for the rape kit in hospital sounds simply outrageous...its like saying You asked for it now you pay to get it checked [JoMarch]

I don't understand it either. I do not see anything wrong with her. My mom actually hates her and she does not hate anyone. I just do not understand. Hillary Clinton is a strong woman and noone hates her so why is it different with Sarah Palin?? I love her and how she has some great kids. Her decision to keep her baby and all is a driving factor in why I love her so much. [sweetpeasmom]
I doubt there was ever anyone more hated than Hillary - until Obama that is. Annie [anniepa]

Well I think the fact that she has been found guilty of abuse of her power by an official investigation is fairly significant to me. I am not American so I have not vote but that alone would mean that I would never ever vote for her. I mean she can deny it till she drops dead, the crooks all do but it has been proven not just hearsay and that to me is the end for a politician. [sharra1]
Taskr...are you Sarah Palin herself???? seriously, you defend her as if you were her or her mother! [JoMarch]

First of all I think most women are jealous of her, that she has made a life of being a mom and having a career all at the same time, she has the same problems that we all face every day as moms. She one of the happiest women, she makes me happy when I look and listen to her. I guess I come away with the idea we might get someone in Washinton, that would really work for the people, not interested in the fluff that goes with it. I think she would work hard to stop the over spending that Congress has done, and I believe Congress knows she would be on their back day and night. She has done wonderful things for her state of Alaska. While she is pro life, my feelings on that is, I believe it your choice when it comes to a baby that you know will be nothing more than a vegetable all it's life, and being raped, or the life of the mother in danger. But to just go out and get pregnant, and then have an abortion, go out and get pregnant get an abortion, is not right. As for sex education in school I think sex education that is given to kids any place is good they need to hear the bad parts of sex along with the fun parts. I think sex education starts at home. Parents should make sure their kids know the dangers in having sex and that parents should be sure their kids can come to them to talk about anything, too many parents leave the sex education to someone else. Along with a lot of other things that needs to be discussed at home and not found out on the street. Parents should be parents, I know that a lot work, and some 2 jobs and there isn't a lot of time to spend with their kids because of making a living for them, but we should always set aside a time to do things and discuss things with our kids. I don't think she is afraid to take on any one in Washington, don't think she is going there to make friends but to actually do some good for us all. She in my opinion is more qualified to be in Washington than Obama who I still haven't seen where he has ever done anything that he can say is experience to run our country. NOt everything she says we are all going to agree with, same as anyone else that is running. But her record as to what she has done in Alaska is better than the crap I hear about Obama and his so called past friendships with some shady guys, and Acorn. I think our country is on shaky ground and we need someone who along with McCain, be an asset not a liability to our country. I think Obama's ideas about foreign affairs could get us into a lot of hot water. To me she is an every day working mom, and some women don't like her cause she done something with her life. She seems to have it all, and it make women jealous and whether she would be perfect for the job they would rather sell out our country than to vote for her. [bdugas]
I have to tell you that jealousy accusation is getting old. Women can dislike another woman without being jealous. Does anyone accuse any of the guys here who don't like any of the male candidates of being jealous? Hell NO! Annie [anniepa]

I'm actually one that likes Palin. I think she's a strong woman with strong principles and she isn't afraid to stand up to the "big boys" that tend to run the government. I'll be the first to admit that she's made a few errors in her interviews but ppl need to remember that she isn't a groomed politician like McCain, Obama or even Biden (and he makes alot of mistakes too)...she's a normal woman who has dipped into politics and now finds herself in the big pool. I think she's done alot of good work with Alaska so far as cutting taxes, building it up and making good decisions. She also seems to be down to earth and no nonsense which doesn't sound too bad. I'm willing to give her a chance...God knows she couldn't do much worse than the other candidates and VP's have done in the past. ~~IN SEARCH OF PEACE WITHIN~~ **AGAINST THE STORMS, I WILL STAND STRONG** [twoey68]

I love her! Her experience shows that she is just what McCain needed - another maverick. happy I love the things she was able to do in her town and in her state. She does walk the talk. [kenzie45230]
I agree with you their is nothing wrong with her as far as I am conserned. I think it is just everyone is scared of here. They are worried that she will show the men in government up and prove that maybe for once a woman can work just as effectivly in govenment as a man can. They are just jelliouse of her because they are not in the drivers seat where she is. [angela38]

because she is too young, and need more experiences on the political arena. [jzbrynn]
But Obama's IQ is higher than his age...lol! Annie [anniepa]

i think she's lovely but two words. creationist and anti-choice. that about sums up what my issues with her are. I'm highly dubuous about her daughter's pregnancy and wedding. if She wasn't running for office would Bristol be keeping the baby and getting married? Curious to see what happens after macain loses. personally i would quite like an obama/palin ticket. [indium]
apologies accepted. thank you. [indium]

I think some people HATE her because she is a woman who could possibly take over a mans role in such a high place in government and that kind of change scares people. Some don't want to see her there just like some don't want to see a man of a different race taking the seat of the president it's just too much of a change for some so they lash out and try to discredit Palin and Obama. If Obama was white I wonder how that would be playing out now, or if Palin was a male how would that be playing out now. I sometimes find myself trying to find fault in both of them and then I make myself stop and think that I am only doing it because I might be scared of that kinda of change. [Amberina]

Maybe she doesn't have that much experience to be vice president, that's why they didn't like her now.but give it a shot maybe were underestimating her. [Greeneagle24]

I am not an expert on Palin and her role as mayor or governor of Alaska and have only since this election known who she is but from what I have seen of her in the VP debates and what I have read of her policies and acomplishments online I am not particularly found of her and do not want her representing America. Hate is a strong word and I do not consider myself as a person who hates anyone, let alone some one I do not know personaly. I feel for myself, that I expect more from a presidential canidate in reguards to how they conduct themselves professionaly. [kcgobble]

We can find skeletons in every single politician's life. Some people search for skeletons harder in certian people's pasts than others. And some of the stuff being said has never been confirmed. I do have a problem with how she is getting trashed, and when President Clinton was in office and he lied to a government panel, and had sex in the Oval Office people said big deal. And that was when he was in office, not running for office. And please people who want to rail on me for the mention of Clinton...don't bother, I'm tired of being reprimanded for my harmless opinion. [AmbiePam]

At first she seemed really popular and I was a bit worried (being an Obama supporter)but I have noticed she has been getting a lot of criticism. I know she hunts which I disgaree with but from what Ive read this whole "hockey mom" thing has annoyed some people as well. It just comes across as a little fake I think. [donna22]
What's fake about being a Hockey mom? Her son plays hockey, and she's a mom. I think it's pretty straight forward. [Taskr36]

I do not hate Palin since I do not know her personally. She just is not my preference for a VP. I do not agree with her stance on women's rights concerning abortion or with her views on the aerial wolf killings. I do not care for how she pronounces nuclear as NUKE U LAR either. I heard enough of nuclear being mispronounced over the past eight years. I was also an English major so that is a quirk I do not care for. I just see her as another politician more or less. [nangel78]

I don't hate her at all. I think she's the wrong choice for the country. She has been caught without answers or with alarmingly incorrect answers for crucial questions affecting a complicated world -- and that makes me suspect she's intellectually incurious. She has said she bases her worldview on what she reads and then does not respond to what it is she reads that informs that worldview. It was important when Governor Palin could not name other Supreme Court decisions she might disagree with. Any conservative has just oodles of times they feel the Supreme Court has overstepped their boundaries; so it appears she is even out of touch with her own "base." It should have been her chance to shine in that interview. John McCain keeps saying that he picked her partly for her expertise on energy. She does not seem to be an expert on even that topic: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hDHjImXhY5yb3BNTWUbOmN5J5ZZwD93NA8PO0 (Hope the URL is all right, I took it from another site.) The last time the United States selected an intellectually incurious president it was George W. Bush. We can see where that has gotten us. We shouldn't want someone in the executive branch because they're "like us" -- they should be better than us. Lately I notice her willingness to present the Democratic presidential candidate as someone who "doesn't see America the way you and I do" -- she kind of squints her eyes and likes to imply he's a traitor to his country. I have no respect for sinking that low. Neither do independent voters, women, and minorities, whose votes McCain/Palin are supposedly seeking. And I can't get behind a governor having their spouse sitting in on staff meetings and cc'd on emails about matters that are none of his business (I'm not even talking about Trooper Wooten, it goes far beyond that.) She also travels to religious events on taxpayer money. All this matters to me. [MoonlightSerenade]
A Time magazine article regarding the Troopergate report: http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1849399,00.html [MoonlightSerenade]

For starters, I can't handle her Dominionism. That's very dangerous in religion. For another, she's the one who authorized and encouraged aerial shooting of wolves in Alaska. Her views on women's issues are much more dangerous than GWB ever dreamed. [Vladilyich1]
amen to that! she is the most anti-women woman in history [JoMarch]
