It's bad enough our previous one (George Ryan) is serving six years.
Now Gov Rod Blagojevich is headed for what could be an extended all expenses paid vacation.
Makes me ashamed to admit I live here.sad
But hey, at least I'm from Southern Illinois...although I feel like a suburb of Chicago because that's where all my tax dollars seem to wind up.
Anybody looking for a job?confused
Looks like we may have an opening soon.doh

Why don't you take the office, mykl. Bet you'd have them straightened up and flying right in no time!happy [thebohemianheart]
Making a fresh batch of brownies for the new people trying to find the new victim in charge since that seems to be the way things work there.. [Rosekitty]
I hear that big White Squirrell was looking to expand his territory........... [Irishfrndly65]
How cute would HE look in a 3 piece suit, lobbying for acorns? Heh! [Irishfrndly65]
I have only caught snippets of this so far this morning. So what is this Govenor accused of? [BCMike]
For some reason when a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives there has to be a special election but when it's in the Senate the replacement is appointed, by the Governor in most states. In this case the president of the Illinois state senate has called for a special session to OK a special election. It could be held in conjunction with the special election to replace Rahm Emmanuel in the House. Annie [anniepa]
I guess it's a good thing the only honest politician in Illinois was the one who made it to the White House, huh? ;~D I wonder who long it will take people to start blaming Obama for this. [ParaTed2k]
Not long, hours only really. Already happening....did he or didn't he talk to the gov and did he or didn't he know? That is the question. It will be all over the news for days now and our President Elect will be bruised and tarnished by this before he takes office. [lvaldean]
There are bad politicians in every state. You just happen to be in the one with the bad governors at the moment. wink But, from what I've been hearing on the news, Jesse Jackson, JR was probably going to get the seat. But was it because of money or his Daddy? [Barb42]
I guess you are right. Just heard Obama said he knew absolutely nothing about the investigation, although, in the Governor's tapped speech, he talks about the president-elect wanting a certain person to fill his Senate seat. Now, Axlerod is saying that nobody had contact with the Governor, although that is 100% different than he said in a speech awhile ago. I do believe there are lots of liars in the mix! Our former governor was back in court today with his lawyers trying to get his sentence thrown out - technicality on the Jury's part, but the prosecutor doesn't think it will happen. [Barb42]
It is getting a bit embarrassing for us Illinoisians isn't it? Geez the least he could have done is give all of us in the state a fair shot and put the spot up for bid on Ebay or Craiglist or something! Hey I'd have bid up to $100! My money's good... I wonder if they'd take a check... then I'd have bid a couple mil! Start out crooked then you don't have to worry about them catching you later after everyone knows your name and what you look like. rolleyes Former Senator would look good on my resume, even if I was only there until they tried to cash the check.lol [craftcatcher]
Senator Crafty and Govenor White Squirrel. Has a nice ring to it I think. [craftcatcher]
I wished I lived in Illinois at this moment, I am looking for a job or will be after December 12. I certainly would apply for that position. I have been looking at the news and following this. You can't trust anyone anymore. Just a sad situation. (Free room and board huh.) [Chevee]
Three hots and a cot, as they say.lol [myklj999]
The smug and very arrogant Gov Blagojevich along with his chief of staff was arrested this morning, sounds like they will be charged with bribery. The fed's useing a wire learned the Gov was taking bids for Barack Obama's open United States senate seat and the seat would go to the highest bidder. This is nothing new in Chicago it is a old dirty political game and many people in Chicago are glad to see the corruption being dealt with at last as it very long over due, appears the chickens are coming home to roost. Gov Blagojevich has been under investigation in regard to dirty political games between him and Tony Rezko for a long while so this Gov was on his way to state prison even before this currant charge. There has been four big Chicago political dirty money players arrested in the past two months and there is bets more are going down just they have not been named yet. Tony Rezko was mixed up in Barack Obama's 1.6 million dollar mansion deal which ended up up saving Barack Obama $300,000 how has not yet been discovered but it was a nice chunk of bucks saved for Senator Obama thanks to his old pal of twenty-five year's Tony Rezko. [kennyrose]
Yes, this is all mentioned in the link supplied at the very beginning of the discussion. [myklj999]
Send him to Alaska, they'll appreciate him there! w00t [dawnald]
In that case, definitely send him to Alaska! [dawnald]
Oi vey. What a country we live in, lol. Politicians getting arrested left and right for corruption charges and getting involved in outrageous sex scandals. At least we have things in line to keep these power-hungry and greedy politicians in check! [murderistic]
As a southern Illinoisan I'm sick of hearing about the crooked Govs we've had over the years. Lets see how many we can name? We'll start with Rod, then there was Ryan, we also had one called "Big Jim", then the Kerner guy who was fond of shoe boxes. My brain just crashed, you will have to complete the list. You would think they would learn after a while. P.S. It was reported on a St. Louis news channel that Obama knew nothing about the situation. Please don't try to drag him into this!!!! [iriscot]
You could always try Florida. For quite some time, the mayor of Key West served his term out in the Monroe County Jail. We've had a number of politicians, judges, etc., who had to do all or some of their terms in office from a jail cell. It doesn't really promote faith in politicians, does it? [cobrateacher]
We all need to insist upon a whole lot better! [cobrateacher]
I am glad that they have finally done something about him. I was really concerned about how much damage he would cause before we could fire him. Illinois really needs to clean house. [KissThis]
Yes, we do. It's not going to be easy to accomplish. [myklj999]
As a matter of fact, I am looking for a job, myklj999. I saw this story earlier on the news and I became very excited because I thought that this may be the beginning of a new career path for me. [Transdisc]
I think that I could arrange that. I'll also need a staff and was thinking of asking you to serve with me. One of my first orders of business would be to see that those Oreos are available in Illinois year round. I bet you could help out with that important task. [Transdisc]
I'm looking for a job but, I'm not a felon nor do I do anything other than break the speed limit so I'm not qualified lol Some people have bad governors, some have bad Congress members and I have a bad mayor, they all have one thing in common they are politicans. I think that is "enuff said" [ZephyrSun]
MG, it wasn't Larry Craig, was it...lol? Annie [anniepa]
It's the Chicago political machine. There is none dirtier. And political party means nothing. The irony is we've now put the Chicago political machine in the White House--that should fix everything. [sndcain36]
Let's see...they elected not one, but TWO crooked governors so you tell me. [sndcain36]
Let's have a special election and get a Republican in there, it seems like the dolts who have occupied that seat can't do anything but 5 to 10 years! [gitfiddleplayer]
Your last Governor is doing six years and six months and he IS a Republican! It seems both parties have their share of crooks. Annie [anniepa]
No need to feel ashamed, it's not your fault where you live and everyone there isn't crooked, just the governors, apparently...lol! Maybe it's something in the wind - literally? Annie [anniepa]
Funny I just got done hearing about this and wondered if you would post something about it..sure enough i come online and see you did..I'm glad you don't stick up for your State and say "Why are they picking on us"? Actually I'd rather trade your Gov. for a returning soon to be President..lol.. [Rosekitty]
Lol well hopefully anyone that sees that will know im joking around lol. OOooo cool cant wait to get it, :D:D [darkjedi]
Oh thats real great, I hadnt heard about that yet. Its obama's fault of course lol. [darkjedi]
LOL..you sure are asking for it..after i'm trying to raise your star i bet it goes down more now..lol.. Sent your Yule card off look for it soon..huggles [Rosekitty]
I read about the Illinois Governor a while ago and I am really shocked. I cannot understand why someone would do a thing like that. I mean a government office is supposed to be a place of trust but it seems that these politicians do not understand that. I hope that these dirty politicians will get what they deserve. Betraying public trust is a crime and it is not fair for the people who put them in office. [alindahaw]
i dont understand why people get so bent out of shape when a politican makes a mistake....did anyone ever notice that they are human? these people are under so much pressure to fix whats wrong with the country. i dont blame them for cracking. now granted i would appreciate them getting caught with their pants down with their wife but if it happens to be a homosexual lover then i guess i can hope he used protection. one thing i dont understand is when they steal money. i'm a tax payer that makes just enough money to pay my bills and i'm grateful for that. i personally think that some of these big shots need to be brought to justice. if i can make ends meet with 1300 a month then surely they can do it with 500o or whatever they make. [medney1988]
Yes, it's quite amazing that our Illiois governors can't seem to stay out of trouble. And ole Gov. Rod says he hasn't done anything wrong... that's a joke. I haven't trusted him since he first went into office. He even got elected for a second term and I sure don't know how. I didn't vote for him. angry Anybody that wants to know about this can visit my blog at: http://charslifeandtimes.today.com/ Have a great day! Char happy [CharRay7]
He tried to shakedown a childrens hospital. The guy is pretty much scum in my opinion. [BlueGoblin]
Illinois has a long history of political corruption, especially involved with organised crime, dating back at least to Capone. From CBS2: The number is staggering – more than 1,000 public officials have been convicted of corruption in Illinois in the last 37 years alone. Why should the current wera be any different. At least I can say with some truth that this sort of thing is a bit of a rarity where I come from. Lash [grandpa_lash]
Well it appears that corruption is alive and well even though Al Capone it dead. Just because they knock off the leader does not mean that they killed the corruption. A new boss just takes his place and they learn from their lessons and get smarter. [sharra1]
Such corruption. I was stunned when I heard the news about his guy trying to sell this senate seat. Why bother having politicians they appear to be crooks and if they don't start that way they end up that way. I am shocked at the sheer abuse of power. All this in a country that claims to be the king of democracy. What a lot of crap. I prefer my partially socialised system. It is not perfect but at least it tries to balance the system for everyone not just the greedy and corrupt. [sharra1]
I am from Crook County (ops...I mean Cook County)....I new about Blagojevich corruptions because everybody was talking about...sad He was "selling" all positions and people new about and talking about for very long time...too bad it took years for FBI to collect evidence.... Who can we trust now?...sad [polachicago]
I think it may be a little boys game of one upmanship, You know, the old , (he didn't get away with it but I'm smarter then he is and I'll not get caught). I sure wouldn't want the job of cleaning up the politics anywhere. Good Luck [savypat]
I was watching some news program the other day, I don't remember which one, and somebody said there are thee places you can expect corruption, Illinois, Louisiana, and New York. I don't know if that's true or not. I know we've had some in my state of Tennessee. [bestboy19]
