They Just Dont Make Terrorists Like They Used To

Two recent attempted terrorist attacks made me thik a little bit. Is Alquieda becomming marginalized and the laughing stock of the terrorist business? Two recent cases in point... first, we have the attempted blowing up of the Saudi defense minister. In this attack, the terrorist agent snuck through several layers of security with a bomb by inserting it in to his rectum....when he got close enough to the minister, he detonated the bomb (I really don't want to know specificly how he detonated it, all sorts of hillarious yet disgusting images come to mind). All he suceeded in doing however was blowing his own arse out and getting some blood and guts on the minister. Then we have the attempted christmas day attack on the flight from amsterdam in which the attacker was reduced to what ammounts to settin his underwear on fire. The fact that he lived HAS to be the worst part for this guy, he will forever be known as the underwear terrorst, even among his peers he will probably be a laughing stock and his story will be retold around terrorist group campfire gatherings for generations. In fact, his picture and this case example will probably be put in to terrorist training manuals as an example of how NOT to pull off an attack. SO do you think these guys are losing their edge?

[question posted by xfahctor]responses and comments:

Yeah, I don't know why Al Queda was so quick to claim the guy. Clearly he's none to effective at his job. Honestly I think they've just got a lot of retarded cousins and products of inbreeding that they're trying to get rid of. That, or all the good terrorists keep dying off, so this is what they have left. lol [Latrivia]
Buying the tickets before the Yemen thing and the hasty planning may be more related than you think. The guy may have originally planned for this to be more of a scouting mission, and then chose to step it up. Furthermore, there are always plenty of weaker, lamer attacks that don't work before the big ones. The idea is not always to succeed in the attacks, but succeed in scaring the American people (though I might argue that this one wasn't all that successful at that either). [poingly]

but you have to admit, that is sort of scary how easily this dude gon on the plane in the fist place though, eh? [cher913]
I also imagine Nigeria is going to be changing very little. [poingly]

Kind of like a South Park episode about terrorists, eh?lol But is all seriousness...I am thankful they were unsuccessful. [The_Lamb_Lies_Down]
ROFL! well annie, i can't imagine there was much left of his "little allah" to do anything with after this anyway. [xfahctor]

Like Lamby I'm glad the sucked.... but it makes you wonder what's working and what isn't on our side of the fight. If these half brained idiots can get past security measures so can a full brained better planned jerk. And maybe their failure is a test to see what happens after. "Ok, we did this, they did that, so we should do this this way" I will not relax [TLChimes]
I understand that... but that maybe the hole they use.... [TLChimes]

Hi X, it's a little known fact that Bin Laden himself would cry like a girl if he met anyone bigger than him and wasn't seen around for months when someone suggested he stick a stick of dynamite somewhere he might feel the explosion himself. I think the guy with the bomb in his rectum probably read it up on some Arabic sex site. [thea09]
Spot on there Taskr. I remember the interview by John Simpson with Bin Laden well before he was famous, apparently he was a pussycat but absolutely terrified without his bodyguards at his side. [thea09]

al-qaida is apparently having recruitment problems. some captured members were complaining bitterly about the conditions in their new erm jobs. (did a discussion on this ages ago but i can't find it and so the link for this). this is a good thing - means the movement is losing momentum. [jb78000]
that last sentence was nonsense sweetie. rabbits don't slip. as you well know. [jb78000]

cryAlways remember a successful suicide bomber does not enjoy a lengthy career. Also experts (people with considerable experienceblink, see also above) in the field are difficult to find to train the next generation of operatives. And the demand for people to do this is greater than it ever has been (Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel if they can get under/over the wall, Pakistan, Yemen, England), so most of the top class performers are not readily available, the laws of supply and demand being what they are. So maybe, yeah, they are getting down to the bottomrasp of the class, the real dregs. We can but hope! [astonysh]
ROFL!!!!!! I don't imagine they have much luck finding volunteers in suicide bombing class for demonstrations either. [xfahctor]

I think they already blew up all the intelligent terrorist...lol. [missybal]
yeh, looks like natural selection is working quite well isn't it...lol, darwin was right! [xfahctor]

So I have a question....they say they are in the terrorist organization but do we really KNOW they are? I mean do they have a red phone on all the time that Al Quieda can call to confirm each and every bonehead with a bomb is in their group? And on that note; if they are not confirming it really then can't any bonehead with a bomb just gonna say they are? I think they are really in the organization but I do also think there may be copycats don't you? [hornswaggled]
yeh, how's that for competence thea.....pretty scary. They will strip search a bridge playing, chruch choir grandma, but this guy gets a visa....un-freakin-real. [xfahctor]

What concerns me more than the obvious ineptitude of the underwear bomber is that he's Nigerian and Nigeria is a perfect feeding ground for Alquieda recruiters. There are so many desperately poor and uneducated young men in that country who are ripe for exploitation by terrorist cells. With heightened security all over the world it's no surprise that they're trying to go low Tech and, no, I don't believe it means that they're losing their edge. It means that they're constantly thinking and coming up with alternative plans...just like hackers and those who write virus code. Instead of being reactionary...acting after the fact and being oh so politically correct at every turn...the countries that are at risk need to anticipate future attacks and take the necessary steps to ensure public safety. [spalladino]
I heard on the news that the Netherlands do 'not' allow air marshalls on planes leaving 'their' airports. If that is not changed now, I hope all American based (and bound) planes will land somewhere before departing for the states, to allow our air marshalls to get on board. I hope that the Presiden give special accolades and a medal to the guy who jumped this 'would be' terrorist. He deserves it. But let's not get complacent folks. These die hards aren't going to give up. They are intoxicated with the plans for creating mass destruction anywhere they can carry out their plans successfully. Happy New Year everyone. [ClassyCat]

They won't stop just because of this. They consider this a success, anyway, because now national attention is focused on them again. That's what they wanted in the first place. [Fortunata]
The kid in school who stuck his tongue on a cold metal pole got attention too....not exactly the kind he wanted. The only attention they got (except for a few over paranoid homeland seurity folks) was a few billion people world wide laughing at his dumb arse. [xfahctor]

Don't laugh so much................... Ya they have failed because Govt of all the countries are ready now to tackle all types of terrorists activities................ yet they were able penetrate all the security checks to there destination.............. in the recent attack on the plane ........................ haven't he failed to ignite the bomb ...................... we would have been mourning now for the death of around 200-250 innocent people.................. so don't laugh on the ability of Alquida.................... coz these type of terrorists groups needs just 1 success among 100 failures .............. as 1 success is enough to shook the foundation of the Whole world................. [goodday007]

These terrorists are losing their edge, but at the same time I wonder why they do it anymore? What are they trying to accomplish? I don't take these people seriously anymore, then again, if anyone here watches Jeff Dunham then you all know I why I do not take them seriously anymore. "Achmed the Dead Terrorist" speaks for itself. [rogue13xmen13]

I hope so. I think it's hilarious that Al Qaida claimed the "underwear" attack considering how badly it ended up being executed. Maybe they're starved for attention. lol [dawnald]

maybe their attack is nothing more than a little kid trying to get attention~! trying to pull out all sort of "creative" troubles they can think of!!! [px_yeap]

Unsuccessful? Both got through 'security' that should have caught them long before they reached their targets. I think they succeeded horribly well. They have given their leaders more information on how to skirt security and get in to do real damage. Laughing is the last thing I'm doing when I think of these guys. And hearing our president say they are isolated incidents is even more frightening. How many times does some bozo have to get through security like the couple at the White House, the Marine psychiatrist, and the airplane terrorist before we stop talking about man-made disasters and talk about terrorism??? We should get over 'hurting feelings' and get ready to protect our own! [mysticmaggie]

I don't know about this guy. But I think that is not a lose of the terrorist because terrorist did not count any losses since they want their members sacrifices and blow themselves in crowded places... I don't think that terrorist will be stop until those people in the government itself help them. When they get those ammunition and gun. There is no gun factory of those terrorist but I wonder why they are not supposedly emptied with ammo and guns... Where this terrorist get those arms if there is no one supply them. That will be one of the intelligent look into. But I think they can't because arms is a good business...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! [aerous]

That's brilliant, isn't it? They made right a*ses of themselves! Reminds me of the two fathers of terrorists who were talking at an 18th birthday, and one asked the other: 'What's Salman going to do now he's come of age?' The proud dad says: 'He's going to join Al Qaeda to become a suicide bomber.' The other one says: 'Ah, they blow up so quickly these days, don't they?' [Sandra1952]

Hey they caught another terrorist with his pants down. It's an honest mistake, he grabbed his mistress vibrator by mistake and it burned up because he didn't know it was a 3 volt model, and tried to detonate it with 12 volts, hehehehehehheeh dumb arses. And the other terrorist had the stick of dynomite he thought was the vibrator, heheheheheh [itsmychoice]

I guess EVERYONE is being affected by the recession...they cant even afford to hire a good terrorist these days LOL In these hard economic times, I guess even the bad guys feel the pinch a little. LOL [goldeneagle]

Wasn't there another attempt on the same airline this week? I've been totally out of the loop for awhile so I may be wrong. [debrakcarey]

I think they're really scraping the "bottom of the barrel" now! They're running out of "brave" (for lack of a better word!) young men willing to blow themselves up. I have to wonder if the "Underwear Bomber" might have lost his nerve and that's why he stayed in the bathroom so long. Then there is the fact that they're running out of original ideas. All they did was move the location of the bomb up the length of the would-be attacker's inseam from the "Shoe Bomber". Regarding "All he succeeded in doing however was blowing his own arse out and getting some blood and guts on the minister." I think he got more than just "blood and guts" on that poor minister...lol! Annie [anniepa]
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EEEEWWWW! NOT a visual I needed..... "They're running out of "brave" (for lack of a better word!) young men willing to blow themselves up." Subsitute "brave" for "stupid", "gullable", or any other number of negative adjectives there. I really believe your right. there certainly is no shortage of those willing to take on the cause, but though they may still have the quantity, the quality is glaringly lacking. [xfahctor]

I am not sure what the world is coming to , but y dont they try to see why a man would risk his life or the life of others to do it. Some serious work needs to be done. [eddify]

question is... is he still going to get "martydom" status for his botched terrorist act? or maybe it is possible to do a sort of "layaway terror" program that allows fledgling terrorists to bank points for "mini terror" assaults or partial points if they really tried to commit an act but failed ... how many tries would they get before being shut out of "eternal grace".One thing i know for sure, i would not claim that he graduated from my Terror Academy(if i had one). He must just want to crawl into a hole and blow himself up ....how embarrassing. [sageyrudman]
