...and now will attend the Inauguration in a wheel chair.
http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/us_world/NATL-Cheney-Pulled-Back-Muscle-Moving-.html
He was helping to move into his new home near Washington D.C. in McLean VA when the injury took place. He apparently pulled a muscle and doctors say he'll be fine but should stay in a wheel chair for a few days.
Gee, I sure hope he's not in too much pain...
Any other well-wishers for our soon to be former Vice President?
Annie

Damn it.... now we have to feel bad for him. Ah well, let's just think of it as karma, and hey, it's better than being shot. [murderistic]
Well at his age and health you would think that he would have left the moving to the moving crew. I had heard he got hurt moving but the story I heard did not have details. So I was wondering if he had hurt it moving out of the VP house or just moving around in general. Thanks for clearing it up. [lilwonders456]
ya my dad has done that before too. Well I hope he is on good pain meds. [lilwonders456]
That's really weird, one would think that "people" move the president and vice presidents out for the new ones. Oh well he's old maybe he should get use to it lol [ZephyrSun]
Well I've worked at a nursing home and most are old and sweet and they also know their limitations. This 67 year old man has also pushed the power of his "office" and also ignored the courts, so I have no sadness in my heart that he is an idiot for doing something that he shouldn't have done in the first place. [ZephyrSun]
Annie, I just can not feel your pain for vise president Cheney,LOL [kennyrose]
Makes me happy when I see you two getting along! LOL [AngrierKitty]
Maybe the US is short of hands now because all are busy with the preparations for the Inaugural. Or perhaps the materials are of such nature that only a Vice President can move them with only a muscle pulled. What could these be? Others perhaps will risk more than muscles? God bless the Vice President for being so concerned and protective! [bantilesroger]
Hey annie! No! And how come he can attend the Inauguration? I thought that the outgoing President and VP weren't supposed to be anywere near there! I read that the President isn't supposed to attend and I assumed the other moron oh I mean outgoing VP shouldn't be attending either! It isn't like he did anything when he was in office anyway! Let him and his wheelchair stay the hell home, whereever his new home is! Good riddance to him and his ex-employer! I so happy that neither one of them are employed anymore! Thank the Lord! The USA is safe! [Opal26]
Actually we still have about 12 hours and 12 minutes until the long national nightmare will FINALLY be OVER!!!!! We SURVIVED!! Annie [anniepa]
I just heard about this on our local news. I was sorry to hear that he will have to be in a wheel chair for a few days. I hope he recovers quickly. [stephcjh]
He was doing manual labor and was not sitting in an easy chair giving orders. That is a good thing. I would not be surprised that this will be remembered more then many of the other things he did or did not do during the Bush administration. You have to be careful when you are lifting things, do it wrong and you will get injured even if you are the former vice-president. [suspenseful]
You're so right. I hurt my back once by sneezing. No lie, I could feel it rip up through my back with pain you couldn't imagine. Annie [anniepa]
Well, he's been a sharp pain in our collective necks for more than long enough. I do not plan to offer him a single aspirin tablet. [cobrateacher]
Gosh where was all the help? Speedy recovery Mr. XVP. [OLIJULSAR]
I do not wish anyone including (until noon) our number one D1ck to suffer pain. So I wish him a speedy recovery far away from the White House. [whiteheather39]
I read through this thread and I'm not at all suprised at the responses, many have shown their expected colors. It was exactly what I expected to see when I saw the thread. Nice, really classy guys. you all should be ashamed of your selves but I doubt you are. Annie, good to see at least a little respect from you, too bad that example didn't flow down through the rest of the thread. [xfahctor]
I don't think it's funny. Hmmm.. didn't I say that? If you knew me at all you'd know that I have the utmost concern for people's well-being. The problem is that Cheny has the utmost concern for his own well-being. [murderistic]
I had a car accident several years ago and along with a broken sternum I had pulled muscles in my back and I wasn't in a wheel chair. That is strange that he is in a wheelchair for pulled muscles? I think if I ever have another pulled muscle in my back I'm going to request a wheelchair. [scarlet2000]
I thought that seemed a bit much myself. I have degenerative disk disease, four herniated discs and spinal stenosis plus severe arthritis and I'm not in a wheel chair. Then again, I've never been Vice President! Annie [anniepa]
Did he really hurt his back from moving boxes? I would think that he would have poeple to do that. I think a more likely story is back strian from leaning over the parper shredder for to long a period of time. Ooops, did I just insinuate that he might be trying to make something incriminating disappear? I hope I did. [uicbear]
I genuinely hope he will be feeling better soon and that he gets more respect and courtesy as a private citizen than he and his boss did while in office. You don't see too many politicians who are willing to do their own "grunt work" with agile guitars, most of them deem physical labor to be beneath them, which is part of the problem with this country - so many of those with hands in running it are completely out of touch with what regular people have to deal with. [AngrierKitty]
Gosh... My wife's back is in terrible shape but she isn't in a wheel chair. She's fixing lunch for us right now standing in front of the cook stove. I wonder if Bush is going to get to fly home on Air Force 1? [iriscot]
I do hope that he gets better real soon. Maybe he should leave the packing to the hired help. [agrant10]
When I first heard about this, anniepa, my thought was, "Cheney does his own grunt work?"lolIt seems to me that someone with a history of the health problems he has would not be lifting boxes! Somehow I just don't believe this is a true story. [worldwise1]
I was surprised, Annie, first that he had aftershave solutions and second that he appeared in a wheelchair without a gun that he could use to shoot a friend or two. He sure has the perfect name, doesn't he: D!ck? Memo to self: Good thing your name is Robert and not Richard, RJ, or YOU might be called a D!ck too! (C) 2009 RJScott [rjscott]
RJ, I don't think you'd have to worry too much even if your name was Richard! From what I know of you, you're no D1ck Cheney...lol! Annie [anniepa]
Yes, Even though I find it funny and sad at the same time. You know you didnt hear much from the VP after the shooting in the woods because they kept him hid and the next time you see him he is in a wheelchair. LOL! And like he wanted to be remembered like that at the inauguration. [baileycows]
I noticed the strangest thing when the camera was on him in his wheelchair; I think I saw him actually SMILE, a real smile, not his usual sneer or whatever you call that face he makes with one side of his mouth. Annie [anniepa]
Saw that on TV as well I also hope that he would be okay. There were also I think a couple of those who attended who was rushed to the hospital like Sen Kennedy who I think had a seizure after the event. [rsa101]
Thankfully, Senator Kennedy is back home and doing well, so I've heard. I should say as well as to be expected considering he's suffering from brain cancer. Annie [anniepa]
I'm sure you really care, anniepa, ha ha! [Fortunata]
Well, now my feelings are hurt...lol! Do you really think I have no compassion for a fellow human being...oops, that's right, this is Cheney we're talking about... Annie [anniepa]
