I mostly just disagree with their methods, Myk. Most of the casualties are innocents...alot of them children, and the people in Gaza were suffering and dying alot anyway the last coupla years. This is all happening around 5 hours drive from me mykl. sad The death toll keeps climbing and it is going to get a lot worse unfortunately. Of course they should be defending themselves, but the issue is that Israel is the most despised country in this region and their US ties don't get looked upon positively either. This specific region has been a hot bed for a very long time and the whole situation makes me very nervous. All I am hoping for now is that casualty numbers don't climb too high and that it remains contained between the existing entities until things calm down. Whether people like it or not, Israel is the recognized state in the land which use to be called Palestine (a name given to the area by a Roman who hated the Jews). Those people who call themselves Palestinians never settled the land or set up any form of government before the United Nations recognized Israel as a country, they only used the land. Israel asked the so-called Palestinians to join them as a united nation back in 1948, but the Muslin countries persuaded them against it. Israel has never stolen anything from anyone, and they have a perfect right to defend themselves against anyone who fires upon them. Murderistic, Did you know the Gaza Strip and Western Bank was won from Egypt and Jordan after the notorious 6 days war when Israel was surrounded by six Arab nations gleefully looking forward to slaughtering every Israeli? Earlier when Israel by U.N. mandate returned to the land, millions of Jewish people were evicted from all the (huge) Arab nations and Israel absorbed them all. When a few hundred Palestinians living peacefully in Israel, left Israel in preparation for the 6 day war (er,slaughter intended) no Arab nation would then take them in. Israel has long been very agreeable to a two state solution but the 'other' side has broken every treaty and attempt to do so. When they left their homes and greenhouses and businesses in Gaza, I knew only one thing would result. Rocket fire into Israel from closer range. When I look at a map of the region, I see HUGE Arab nations, and one teeny weeny slice called Israel on the edge of the Arab sands...
