Rush Limbaugh Proves His Racism Sexism Yet Again

This is what Rush Limbaugh had to say yesterday on his radio show about Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, who had told Senators she belonged to an all women's club. "Today, my friends, we turn our attention to the latest revelation from Judge Sonia Sotomayor. It appears that Ms. Sotomayor, the model of diversity and inclusion, has some explaining to do regarding her membership in a club. Not just any club -- a club whose members are all female.... "Safe to say, any conservative in this situation would find their nomination dead in the water. Clubbed -- like a baby seal. No question about it. I think I'm going to send Sotomayor, and her club, a bunch of vacuum cleaners to help them clean up after their meetings." http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2009_06/018657.php Where's the outrage that was directed at David Letterman for over a week? I'll bet we could get more than a dozen or so people to rally for Rush's firing! Anyone want to join me? Annie

[question posted by anniepa]responses and comments:

Hell annie he can send all us libral women a vacuum cleaner then we can clean up the mess in Washington from the Bush administration. I mean all the lies from the last 8 years has to have some kind of paper trail from the white house to the city dump rasp [grammasnook]
Please tell me how I can see those pictures you're referring to, grammasnook! My curiosity is getting the best of me now...lol! Annie [anniepa]

"I think I'm going to send Sotomayor, and her club, a bunch of vacuum cleaners to help them clean up after their meetings." LOL That is funny! lol Comparing this to what Letterman said is a little desperate, Annie. No where did he say that she dresses like a slu**y flight attendant or suggest her daughter get knocked up by a baseball player on third base during the game. And while Rush's comment may sound a little sexist where are you getting the racist charge from? I swear some libs see racism around every corner! rolleyes [piasabird]
"Rush who has accused Colin Powell, of all people, of being racist several times." Are you saying that because he's black he can't be racist? Personally I think that he, as a Republican, shouldn't have come out endorsing Obama (a Democrat) for president. And the only reason I can think of for him doing that is because Obama is black like him. Yes, I think that Limbaugh steps over the line of good taste like with the mocking of Michael J. Fox, whom I like very much. But like I said, I don't listen to Rush. I only hear about stuff like this when it makes the news. I don't watch Letterman either as I've never really cared for him. I still think his stupid joke is worse than Rush's comment about giving the women's club vacuum cleaners. And even with all of that said I still believe in their right to free speech. I didn't think that Letterman should be fired and I admire the fact that he apologized and Gov. Palin accepted. So as far as I;m concerned it should all be over. happy [piasabird]

Annie, It seem he is talking about Sonia Sotomeyers saying the model of diversity and inclusion because U.S.supreme court judges are not to belong to certain kind of club memberships. I think to call for a protest over what Rush Limbaugh said would be fruitless what would be the point? David Letterman was called out because he made a immoral and vulgar personal attack on Gov Sarah Palin and her teenage daughter even degraded female fight attended. I don't care if a man is a republican, democrat liberal, conservative, any man saying such and immoral and vulgar things like David Letterman said I would call him out. Maybe Rush Limbaugh opinion has not set well with some people but I do not see it as being a racist remark.surrender Rush Limbaugh Statement Today, my friends, we turn our attention to the latest revelation from Judge Sonia Sotomayor. I think I'm going to send Sotomayor, and her club, a bunch of vacuum cleaners to help them clean up after their meetings." [kennyrose]
My sense of humor is just fine, thank you, but I don't consider the things Rush Limbaugh OR Ann Coulter have said to be very humorous, just hateful and cruel. Annie [anniepa]

I'll join LOL I would love nothing more than that fat mouth to lose his job. I have seen so many conservatives here saying how liberals are racist and whatnot yet, this week this is the second issue of racism in the conservative party. [ZephyrSun]
"The fact that you will defend a racist shows everyone how far you have your head up your a$$ Taskr." I haven't defended anyone here. All I've done is argue that the statement in question was sexist and not racist. I've actually PROVEN that some of you are simply projecting your own prejudices of hispanic women onto him. "I have showed you many of his racist quotes, and you will find a way to defend it in your own mind. So the question I have for you is if you can defend these comments doesn't that make YOU a RACIST?" Were those his quotes? If so, why did you just type them haphazardly? I know that proof and valid sources mean absolutely nothing to you debater, but they mean something to me. Since you've already lied in this thread (claiming that the majority of women in the group were Hispanic) I'm not about to take your words at face value. So tell me, do you have any proof? FYI, DailyKOS and their hate-speech is NOT proof of anything Limbaugh said so don't bother linking to them. [Taskr36]

Could we expect anything else from that loud mouth bigot? He is poison on the airways. I didn't hear him make such statements. Every female in the U.S. should take action and shut him down. I decided some time ago he had contaminated my radio long enough. He comes on every weekday on KMOX in St. Louis at 11 in the morning. That station, that used to be the jewel of the airways has turned to trash talk and has lost many subscribers, they even lost the rights to broadcast the St. Louis Cardinal baseball games. What a shame to undermine a once great radio station! [iriscot]
If you think I mis-described that fat b@st@rd, read what some other people think of him. Just replace the **'s with tt h**p://thinkprogress.orr/2008/o1/20/limbaugh-obama-fail There are several comments here. [iriscot]

rush has always been a sexist jerk. One wonders if his country club allows women to dine alone, or even if they have any black or jewish members. GWB is/was in a club, or rather a "secret society", called "the skulls", there are no women permitted in this "club", nor blacks to my knowledge, but alas, it is a SECRET, right? Was Rush a Frat member in college? bet he was..... Rush to Sotomayer: " hello, Pot? this is the kettle, YOUR BLACK!!!" [JodiLynn]
The job of a supreme court judge is to use the constitution to judge laws and cases. NOTHING besides the constitution should be a factor in their decision-making process. [Taskr36]

The vacuum cleaner quip is a chauvinist one, no doubt. Not cool. But the rest of the statement is pretty fair. She belongs to an all-women club and all-men clubs do come under fire for discriminating against men. If she had tried to join an all-men club and was denied entrance, you'd better believe the liberals and the feminists would cry "foul". Now it's up to some man to apply for membership in her club and see what happens. Of course, the rational thing to do is to allow people to have clubs of any type they like with any membership they desire. But that would only work if people like Sotomayor approved of the club and its discrimination. The two statements - Limbaugh's and Letterman's are both demeaning, but in different ways. I suppose it depends on whether you object more to being considered a housekeeper or a sl*t. The former demeans your achievements and the latter degrades you as a human being in a smirky, sexual way. I have to say that Letterman's comment is the more degrading of the two, but neither are okay. [Rollo1]
"The racism has to be in the minds of those who see it, because it isn't there." That is doubly true since the only consistency of members is that they are all women. It is a multiracial group with white, black, hispanic, and asian women. This is really just another pathetic attempt by the left to call anyone they don't like a racist. [Taskr36]

Rush Limbaugh is supposed to look like the dumb white racist and that's why he's allowed on the air. It's part of the plan to reinforce the stereotype of white males. On the subject of Sonia Sotomayor, she was chosen based on her gender and her ethnicity, which by all means is racist. She was not chosen by her merits and this obvious, this is all very strategical and political. [BlueGoblin]
Maggiepie, I'm not sure who you were referring to when you said "You've never heard Rush" but let me assure you I listened to him while I worked delivering mail for 18 years. I know exactly where he's coming from! If you want to believe he's not a racist, sexist, drug-addicted bigot, that's fine with me. Annie [anniepa]

It's funny that while criticism of Rush is going on all over the place, that I've seen nary a word over David Letterman's truly disgusting sexist "jokes" that not only insulted Sarah Palin's daughter, but also every woman in this country. Where's the uproar about that on here? Or what about a clown named Guy Cimbalo who in an article published in a well-known men's magazine, had this to say about women: From the article "So Wrong, It's Right": If you, as a woman, at any moment during your life in the midst of expressing your opinion or your feelings have been subjected to the following by any man, you understand what Cimbalo's accomplished: Are you on your per**d? When is the last time you had s*x? I have what you want. I know what you need. Now...please compare what Rush said about Sotomayor to what Cimbalo said. Who is the true sexist here? As far as racist remarks and actions, mull over these (you can find these and more on http://members.tripod.com/~GOPcapitalist/democratrecord.html ) Hugo Black: A former Democrat Senator from Alabama and liberal U.S. Supreme Court Justice appointed by FDR, hugo Black had a lengthy history of hate group activism depending on the merchant fee involved. Black was a member of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920's and gained his legal fame defending Klansmen under prosecution for racial murders. In one prominent case, Black provided legal representation to Klansman Edwin Stephenson for the hate-induced murder of a Catholic priest in Birmingham. Senator Robert Byrd, D-WV: Byrd is a former member of the Ku Klux Klan and is currently the only national elected official with a history in the Klan, a well known hate group. Byrd was extremely active in the Klan and rose to the rank of Kleagle, an official Klan membership recruiter. Byrd once stated that he joined the Klan because it was effective in "promoting traditional American values" Senator Ernest Hollings, D-SC: Hollings is liberal Democrat Senator from South Carolina who is also notorious for his use of racial slurs. He rose out of the Democrat Party's segregationist wing in the 1960's as governor of South Carolina. While in office as governor, Hollings personally led the opposition to lunch counter integration in his state. The New York Times reported on March 17, 1960 that then-governor Hollings "warned today that South Carolina would not permit 'explosive' manifestations in connection with Ne**o demands for lunch-counter services." Jesse Jackson: Jackson was the featured prime time speaker at the 2000 Democrat Convention. Jackson has a history of using anti-Semitic slurs and derogatorily calling New York City Hy***town. Jackson, a prominent self proclaimed "civil rights leader," is himself guilty of the same bigotry he dishonestly purports to oppose... I could put more of these in here, but if you'd like to read them, see aforementioned Web site link. Compare these to what Rush said and see who's being racist like a magic trick folks. [coolcoder]
Cool, couldn't have said it better myself. In fact, your post deserves a "Best Of" mark, but of course, that would be asking a Leftist to be objective. Heaven forbid & perish the mere thought. whistle By the way, the snarky little posts right after yours put me in mind of the gibbering taunts thrown at Aslan (from C.S. Lewis' "The Lion, The With, & the Wardrobe). They look & sound so petty & mean next to the noble Aslan.... Keep up the good work. Leftists just can't STAND it that we Conservatives (& especially Rush!) refuse to hide our opinions any more. Maggiepie [Maggiepie]

I've become insensitized to Rush's insane political rants. His only listeners are so far Right they might soon fall over the edge, so this is "no harm done" territory. As a caricature of the Right's political evil leaning he probably does more harm than good to his compatriots. Best just to leave him alone. Free speech is his enemy, not ours. [heathcliff]
If Rush isn't their leader why are they so afraid of offending him? Didn't the RNC chairman say some derogatory things about him then apologize and grovel at his feet? Didn't the D1ck Cheney say he'd take Rush over Colin Powell? Annie [anniepa]

I'll join! The thing that many on the right forget (and dispute) is that Rush is nothing more than a political shock jock. It is his JOB to garner attention, whether that is positive or negative. The fact that it is mostly negative speaks volumes about exactly where the heads are at of many conservatives. If Rush chooses to gain listeners by making racist remarks and being a misogynist, (not to mention hypocrite) that is his and his listeners problem. Personally, I don't think that kind of "communicating" (if you can call it that) is doing anything to help the Republican party. It is certainly not advancing the cause of the GOP in Middle America. But hey, if Rush wants to take part in further alienating the Republican party, who am I to judge? [milkmaid]
LMAO Annie! If you get yours, let me know so I can keep my eyes peeledlol [milkmaid]

you know what it seems he does show some. But my question is why do people take it so literal? if you just dont let other peoples comments bug you then life would be like way easier! What does anything that Limbaugh say have to do with you? He doesnt know you, and never will. [EpicPro]

I think that Rush, like anyone in this US, has the right to express his opinion. The only problem I, however, have about people like Rush or the "conservatives" is that they often seem to be of the persuasion that others are not entitled to the same privileges like them. I believe the Rush Limbaughs, the Michael Savages, the David Lettermans and the Jeremiah Wrights all have the right to express their opinions based upon facts and/or their various life experiences. Please, leave these people alone! [Netsbridge]

If he is right about an all female club, AND it is NOT an all female gym, them she belongs to something that has gotten men kicked out of contention for all male clubs. I wish that rush would get flushed. BUT, and I do NOT believe that I am about to say this without a barf bag; rush is right. She should step down now. [General_Spacey]

I wonder what makes Limbaugh such a hater? Maybe he just likes the paycheck. Mainly I wish people would stop paying attention to him at all. He was even hateful during the Bush era when he should have been ecstatic -- he was hateful just because people could dare disagree with the administration, lol. Then we were all unpatriotic if we didn't stand behind the president. NOW if we stand behind the president, he wants America to fail. What a twit. The only thing I found wrong with Lettermans's joke is it brought Sarah Palin into the limelight again. I was hoping not to see her again at least for a coupla years. Thanks a lot Dave, lol. [SnowWhiteAndSeven]
"Good thing is he represents a minority." That's for sure! It's still scary that he has the listeners that he has. Annie [anniepa]

Annie, I've read the entire thread. The liberals here will blindly agree with you but I have yet to see a single person, including you, explain what he said was racist. I'm not going to argue the sexism bit, that's old news and I'm pretty sure everyone already knows he's a sexist. For all the racist accusations though, I'm amazed nobody here can provide a shred of proof. [Taskr36]
There have been several people on here that have felt that because the vacuum cleaner statement was directed towards a Latino woman, that they could be considered as a racist statement because there is a racist stereotype that latino women must be a housekeeper, which talking about vacuuming implies housekeeping....so I don't understand how you can say that there is no "shred of evidence"? annie and debater have good points to make because Rush is sneaky and implies things that are racist but because its not clear, he can just say "oh no that's not what I meant",...and its not comparable to Letterman because this isn't about a single person, it could offend an entire ethnicity of people.....what Rush said could be racist, like annie pointed out, the thing is that Rush is slimy and sneaky so he states things ambiguously, but that doesn't mean that people won't interpret his words as being racist. [spicysweetie21]

What did Rush say that wasn't the truth? You're not going to get Rush fired. He's too popular. Besides, we need people like Rush to help balance out the propaganda from the left. [6precious102]
annie, So do you. [6precious102]

Annie, if anyone thinks that he wasn't talking about her race, and the fact that this group is made up of mostly latino women, then they don't know Rush. Everything out of his mouth is calculated, and he says things like this to get attention, and get his name in the papers. I understand that Rush owns EBI, but if we all rise up and go after the hate radio stations that pay for his show, and explain to people that listen to him, how his hate is hurting the country, then you can do the same thing to him. [thegreatdebater]
OOPS!! I stand corrected on the use of the words "highlight reels". I HAD forgotten that part. Debater and I don't have prejudices against Latina women. If you want to delude yourself that drug addict Limbaugh doesn't either, be my guest. He's proven his racism to me time and time again. I guess if we were on a jury together, you'd be the hold-out...lol! Thanks for participating in this discussion. You disagree with me, that's fine, end of argument. Annie [anniepa]

I'm a bit confused. How exactly did this show is racism and sexism on Rushs part? The point of his statement was that if the situation was reversed, and this was Dan Smith, a white male Judge, who was the member of a private club that only admitted white males, he would be eliminated from having a chance. Yet here Sonia is the member of a women only club, and she is not kicked out. The point made was that the LEFT, the DEMOCRATS are the racists, sexist bigots. And... he's right! [andy77e]
There have been many white males in political positions who have belonged to clubs that only accepted white males. Rush may be "right" but it's not the RIGHT "right" so he's WRONG...lol! Annie [anniepa]

Radical Right Wing Agenda Proof... Proof... Proof!!! Just change the **s to tt and learn all about it. h**p://thinkprogress.org/tag/limbaugh [iriscot]
It's a pity you can't bring yourself to believe anything that isn't in agreement with the statements made by such as the loud mouth Limbaugh!!! [iriscot]

That man is such a jerk, what he said was sexist and insulting about sending them vacuum cleaners,,,and I read the whole statements he made, and Sotomayor specifically says that men haven't asked to become a member, that's why its all women but no its not discriminating because men can join,,,,oh and of course the bigmouthed fatty said "I don't blame 'em!" in response to the fact that no men have wanted to join the club...bottom line Rush is really reaching and the fact that he stoops to making such a sexist, belittling and cliche joke that insinuates that images of vacuum cleaners go hand and hand with women...if he ever sent me a vacuum cleaner, i would send it back and say "you need this more than me, so you can vacuum up the crap that spills out of your mouth everyday,...and p.s, you need to get up and move around and drop some of that weight, tubby" [spicysweetie21]
Well he said he was sending vacuum cleaners to her club, so it seems logical to say it was directed at women, since it's a women's club, not a Hispanic women's club. [Taskr36]

we have this here too, for some reason a woman is sexist if she belongs to a woman only club but it's ok for men [jb78000]
To Rush every Democratic woman is sexist and every Democratic minority is racist. Annie [anniepa]

You are correct, there have been politicians were white males, and belonged to white male only clubs. Like Ted Kennedy (D) and Robert Byrd (D). Byrd was of course part of the KKK. So once again... Rush is right. [andy77e]
How is putting women in the role of "they must like to clean because they are women" humorous? [spicysweetie21]

It sounds to me the only thing Rush did was say there's a double standard. Do you have something against people who clean, because you're the one who seems to be putting down those in that line of work. [bestboy19]
Nothing to do with the subject at hand? Go back to Annie's original statement. Letterman is mentioned. He's also mentioned in posts 7, 9, and 16. Annie's comment in 16 is particularly interesting. Now if you would go back to Rush's comments about the woman's club, you will see that he make no sexist remarks. It was your assumptions that were sexist, not his comments. And you know what happens when you assume. That's another problem you liberal women have, you want to but your words in someone else's mouth. [bestboy19]

Does Limbaugh still have any listeners? I thought most people just saw him for what he is: a paid hatemonger. I am glad I am not in his family, aren't you? Imagine being obligated to sit down to a Thanksgiving meal with a guy who is so bitter all the time. He was even bitter the whole time his favored party had all the power, that's what slays me lol. Still he found plenty of people to hate. You're right, of course. That's a ridiculous thing to say, but rest assured, he knew it. There was nothing accidental or uncalculated about that. [Apple1]

I see a lot of how the Minority is controlling the Majority, I just wrote about that last night... Here is a link to the article I wrote.. http://communati.com/node/5309 If that link ever fails, I'll have it backed up with another link where I will republish the article in the event that the link gets redirected to an error page. [TheGreatWhiteBuffalo]

Sending Vacuum cleaners to a women's club is racist????? confused It's not even sexist, are you sure you are taking ALL of your prescribed Meds annie?drool [morethanamolehill]
