I heard some say Palin snubbed Oprah because Oprah had snubbed her FIRST, but is that the case, had Palin been willing to appear on Oprah's show before the election? I find that rather surprising if she had simply because Oprah had openly endorsed Obama. I also think Oprah did the right thing by not having any of the candidates on after she'd announced her support for one ticket.
Any thoughts? Do you think Palin will eventually appear on Oprah? Should she? Should Oprah feel that she'd been snubbed, did it "serve her right" or isn't it even important? One thing I WILL say is the three people Oprah mentioned are all journalists, unlike her.

I consider Oprah pretty much a nobody when it comes to interviewing politicians. I don't think Palin owes her an interview and while Oprah was within her rights to refuse to interview someone for whatever reason, I think her reasons were poor and didn't fly with many people. [irishidid]

My feeling is Oprah had her shot and missed. She used her show to promote one candidate now she has to live with it. The way the media has treated Gov Palin and Senator McCain I would be very reluctant to do them any favors, and it would be a favor to appear on Oprah. Now that the media is having second thought about how they handled the campaign coverage why should she help bolster their ratings and save their bottom line. Independent research has shown that the major media reported 80+ % positive for Senator Obama and only 30% positive for McCain and Palin. By their own admission they did not do their job in finding out about Senator Obama and what he stood for or his background. All I can say to Oprah is not everyone comes crawling and bowing to your alter. [bobmnu]
Who in the media are having "second thought about how they handled the campaign coverage"? I hadn't heard that! I don't put much stock in these studies and their 80% versus 30% statistics. I mean, were they supposed to make up positive things for McCain and Palin or what? If anyone wanted to know where either of the candidates stood on any of the issues all they had to do was watch the debates and look up their voting records online, the media didn't tell me who to support or to vote for. Maybe Palin was afraid that Oprah would ask about all the reports of ethics violations coming out of Alaska now and would be put on the spot. Wow, what a discussion! My point of view is Oprah has the right like every other American to endorse and to vote for who she believes in. If she had invited Palin then she would have been viewed as being biased. Palin openly said that she would not visit the 'BLUE STATES' and something about them not being american/patriotic? If I remember corectly. So the fact is I do not believe Palin would have accepted or even acknowledged Oprah. Palin had made some frightening statements and did not do the job that McCain thought she would do. To bring in the women votes, If you are trying to win a democratics vote do you call them nonamerican or unpatriotic? I do believe that Palin will come back with vengence and be very strong in the political arena now that she has gotten wet under the armpits. She will be ready for that fight on the campagne trail. Oprah showed that she was not impartial and Sarah Palin had a right to refuse. If Oprah had said, that she wants to hear what the candidates say and she will not support one or another and kept her desire to have a far left Democratic president in the White House and was not a confirmed Obamanite, Palin may have appear. Mind you, the Oprah now is not the Oprah of years ago, so I doubt if someone far right was asked to appear, they would not. [suspenseful]
Again, what I'm not clear on is whether it's true, as some have said, that Palin had voiced a desire to be on Oprah's show before the election which would mean she'd have obviously known then that Oprah wasn't impartial since Oprah had endorsed Obama before he was even nominated, which in turn was well before Palin was announced as McCain's V.P. Well it is Oprah's show. She gets to decide who she wants. Yes palin wanted to come on the show during the general. But Oprah was all about Obama and was not going to do the interview. Oprah does not have to be fair or balanced. SHe had Obama on her show twice and basically helped him get a lot of attention (and money)during the primary. But that does not mean she had to have the others on and she didn't. That was her choice. That choice of not having Paline on during the general means that now Palin does not want to do her show. From what I hear (and it could be not true) Palin wanted to be on Oprah because of how many people watch her show. Tons of stay at home moms, which was the crowd she was going after to get the vote. All Oprah has to do is put a book on her "book Club" list and it instantly becomes a best seller. In the primary no one really knew Obama in the beginnning. He was seriously looking like an "also ran" candidate. But then Oprah stepped in had him on her show a couple of times and stumped her little heart out for him....I am not saying it caused him to win...but it definately helped. The power of Oprah. I must first ask, would Oprah be willing to go to Alaska for the interview? This was how Gretta did it. Palin didn't go to her, Gretta went to Palin. Not because of some feeling of high and mightyness, but becuase she is a busy woman. She took some time out of Alaska to go to Georgia but that was for party interests and that sits a lot higher on anyone's priority list than a journalist. Well the fact was that fans of Oprah requested for her on the show, however she mentioned that due to the support of Obama, she would not want her on the show.
