I can't imagine how many times this topic has been bandied about on the Lot and so I apologize for another one. Yet I am unable to find exactly what I am looking for so I am posting it again.
I appreciate ALL opinions and/or facts on the matter. Not much time left here folks.
I am STILL hearing about the issue of Mr. Obama's birth certificate and frankly I am wondering how anyone could get as far as he has without proving, beyond a shadow of a doubt, his US citizenship. I am hearing, "The copy he produced is a forgery" or "He has produced a valid copy", or "Why should he release his BC to the public?" or "Why shouldn't he release it to the public?" etc etc.
Does anyone have any factual info on this at this late date?
Please keep it reasonable here. The candidates are doing enough in dividing our country as it is. I am not trying to divide it anymore. Thanks!

You know Irishfrndly, I thought that you were above this nonsensical thinking. No one can go as far as Obama in Public Life and does not have a valid Birth Certificate. This man as proven in his Public Life as one that is hardworking and love his country. It is not easy for a person to go into Public Life because this person will not have a private one. So what I would encourage all Americans to do is to respect and read his Aims and Goals. If it is not one that you are for then vote for McCain. I would find it very difficut to argue my case if I were in an accident and unable to produce PROOF that I have auto insurance. Sure, I could say, "I have a valid, active policy," but that wouldn't amount to a hill of beans to the powers that be. I'd have to PROVE that I have one. How about if I provided a forgery for my homeowners policy after a disastous hurricane that caused untold thousands of dollars in damage. Could I REALLY expect the insurance company to pay my claim? I am not going to be very helpful Dahr'lin Sis but I would like to pose a question back at you. If Obama's Birth Certificate is forged. Who did it and when? From what I know he was born in Hawaii which I think was and is a US State. His father was a Kenyan so I suppose that there is an outside chance that he might be Kenyan, but his mother is from Kansas. The US does not permit dual nationality. I would have thought that Obama, as a Kenyan, would have struggled to reach his current position if he did not have the necessary US credentials by way of support. Surely a birth certificate is a public record available for all to see. Probably in exchange for a small fee. Sounds like a distraction tactic to me by one of his opponents. [p1kef1sh]

Well I do not understand what the big deal is. But then honestly I have to say I have not been following this story much. Mostly because I have a hard time believing it. The way I understand it he is a "natural born citizen" as long as one of his parents were a US citizen. His mom as I understand was US citizen so therefore he is too. He also was born in Hawaii. Which is in the US. Which makes him a US citizen. Heck illegals who have children in the US, there children are US citizen because they were born here reguardless of their parents citizenship. So what exactly are people saying? Are they saying one of his parents were not US citizens? Are they claiming Hawaii is not part of the US? Or are they saying he was not born in Hawaii? My opinion...the McCain campaign is not stupid and I'm sure they looked into this the moment it was first whispered. They have the most at stake. What a coup that would be for John McCain, to have Barack Obama proven ineligible to run for office at the last minute and forcing the DNC to come up with an alternative candidate...who would have to be a write in vote since there is no time to reprint ballots. I think, if they had such an October surprise they would have used it before early voting started, hoping to get the votes of those who have already voted for Obama before they had the chance to vote for him. Irish, this what I have come up with and I am sure that someone will yell at me. Obama was born in either Hawii or South America honestly, I can't tell you which, I have seen the birth certificate but can not judge if it is real. However McCain was not born in the US either. He was born in Panama. Since McCain's parents were US Citizens living in Panama, he is stil considered a US Born Citizen. Wouldn't the same hold true of Obama. Since his mother is a US Citizen, doesn't that make Obama a US Born Citizen also. I know it is all confusing but if you throw Obama out, you would have to throw McCain out also, which is fine with me, I would rather start all over again to tell you the truth. But the way I understand it if she would have been 19 when she had him IF she had him in Kenya in 1961 he would be OK. But since she was only 18 he is a citizen of Kenya. I believe those were the laws back then although they are different now. [piasabird]
Hi Irish, This is one of my biggest issues with Obama. We know very little in the way of where he originated and his personal beliefs. I want to know how deep his connections go with the people he has surrounded himself with. (Ayers, Fericon, Rev. Wright) This worries me to no end. I agree with your assessment of McCain. He has been around long enough that we know we can pretty much trust him. He did have an involvement in the Keating Five scandal but he admitted his wrongdoings, apologized, and returned any money that he was given. He was not charged with anything and in fact was the only one who won re-election. There is also his days of womanizing and his failed first marriage which he says is his biggest regret. But Obama has suddenly burst on the scene from out of no where. He doesn't take responsibility for anything. He just makes up excuses and says, "He's not the person I knew". I'm still trying to figure out how he figures he should run for president. No one seems to be able to say what impact he's ever made on anything. [piasabird]
I want to know the facts whether he was really born on United States soil, and whether or not it was revoked because his parents, one or both, took him to a foreign country and only citizens of that country and of that religious belief could go to school. There are things on YouTube that question whether he is a natural born citizen or not. A copy is not an original. The only case when a copy would be accepted would be if the courthouse where the records where caught on fire or the hospital he was born in was overcome by a volcano. So I would want to also know if they know that his certificate is in question, why do they allow him to be a candidate? Is it that some people are allowed exceptions because of their race,(as the time the people picked up that rock in the golf course when Tiger Woods was playing for him to pick up)because I am sure that if McCain's birth certificate was in question, he would not be allowed to be a candidate. He is under entirely to much scrutiny for this not to already have surfaced. Why wouldn't the McCain camp use that information as their main argument against him? Obviously the reason we are not finding out anything about this is because it is not true. How come no one question Swartzenegger's running for governor? I have heard on the news that the BC tht he showed has a problem with it. Something about Hawaii's BC's don't have the seal on the back and that is the reason they are asking for the original. Now it seems to me that if you have nothing to hide, you bring the original, or at least a true copy and show it. What is wrong with that, but apparently he just want us to take his word on it. Same as he wants us to take his word at all other aspecks of his campaign. I don't understand why they don't just stop the wohle thing untill this BC is produced. Wow, this smells fishy. Wow... and I am at the point that I am glad that I have not gone out and voted yet. I'm one of those whose been bouncing around of who they are going to vote for, and after hearing the last debate, I was seriously thinking of voting for him. I haven't heard anything like this until today and to have something arise like this so late. I would have to agree with everyone here that if you are not lying and you are truely a US citizen then just show the proof to squash the wonders already. I would like to know what he has to hide. I hope that this get taken care of soon and quickly and if need be put on hold or just have another candidate put up is what needs to be done. I am not a US citizen but i can try to break this issue logically , Mr. Obama has been in the official public service for something i believe , although not a long time , he is the presidential candidate of the biggest country of the world , i would assume that legal authorities usually have background checks for such people as a default procedure , and all the stories about how authentic his birth certificate , is nothing but campaign attacks from one side against the other. From what I have read, Obama has not released his birth certificate and does not have to. I think this copy that has surfaced is a fabricated document from the McCain camp to cast doubt on Obama's origin of birth. If he was not born in the US then he can't be president. It is a smear tactic. Mccain is really low with his shady tactics and I don't trust him. [trich1963]
