Dr Phil How Could You

Isad have been a fan and watched all Dr. Phil's shows since he first was one of Oprah's guests until now with his own show. If fact at one time I was asked to be a guest on his show. I have really enjoyed and respected his opinion until yesterday!!! angry.....Now he has joined the Obummer's band of Bamaloonies defending his eligibility to be president as an American born citizen. My first reaction was OMG not you too before I switched channels then I remembered he (Dr. Phil) is one of Oprah's favorites and his show runs from the Harpo Productions. My question is do you think this is his own opinion or do you think that Oprah instructed him to do this show or else?

[question posted by whiteheather39]responses and comments:

Obummer's band of Bamaloonies ROFLMFAO omg thats PRICELESS!!!! On that note though, I've not been keeping up with any of it..I really dont do politics for starters and since I can't vote over here I guess its just irrelivent to me really [Ravenladyj]
Tee hee...snigger, snigger - glad you approve however I did not make up Obummer but Bamaloonies is my own word for Obama supporters who have sadly lost their minds. [whiteheather39]

In my opinion any one that defends Barack Obama who has for more then one year refused to summit something as simply as his Hawaii birth certificate and hiring a team of attorneys to help him keep his so called Hawaii birth certificate and even his college financial records under lock and keys has done grave damage to our country. [kennyrose]
Coffeeanyone In the united states our birth certificates are private information...even to get a copy of your own you have to send the dept of vital statistics proof that you are who you say you are before they will send you one...they will not just send a copy unless it is YOUR birth certificate (Don't everyone jump on me here I am not saying Obama doesnt have access to a copy of his own birth certificate here just explaining how it works) So I am sure Obama had to show his B/C to several people before he even got in the running for president... Even a regular citizen in order to get any job has to show proof of citizenship and you have to have a B/C in order to get that...so I am sure the CIA has seen Obamas B/C. However none of us has to show our birth certificate to anyone we dont wish to especially any private citizen that may ask to see it... The american people are demanding to see Obamas B/C and he has every right to refuse that for whatever his reasons are.....and I dont remember any past president (at least in my lifetime) being asked by the public to show theirs so i suspect it is a personal dignity issue with Obama...would it just be easier for him to publish his B/C for us and be done with it? Sure but why should he? He has the same rights to privacy as the rest of us do...(personally i think he has a bit of a stubborness issue and i think that is also the cause of some of his less desirable decisions lately as well but that is a whole nother discussion...i just hope he realizes it and gets it under control before he makes too many more bad choices and loses what support he has left) ANYWAY...what Obama is saying is I have shown my B/C to those i needed to in order to get this position and I dont feel I need to publicizes it because the american people demand i do....he is well within his rights there... And the officials of the state of Hawaaii have already made a statement that yes they have seen Obamas B/C and yes there is a copy of it in existence in the state of Hawaaiis dept of vital records but that they CAN NOT by law make that document public! IMO...the birth certificate issue is a non issue! And i can say that if private citizens demanded to see MY B/C i would tell them the same thing.....noneya!!!! [pixeltwistr]

I've caught Dr. Phil on Fox before, and he seems like a liberal guy. That aside, I really wish some people would keep their politics to themselves. Everyone has decided that THEY can effect change these days! Oh, man! I'll tell ya, that's great news! That's not being sarcastic, either; I'm seriously happy that so many people feel as if they can help effect change in America. The troubling aspect, to me, is that they're hitchin' up to Obama's wagon for no reason whatsoever. Wow, it's hard to tell the truth about Obama and not have it sound like I'm bashing him. I don't want to bash him. I try to be even-keeled in my political comments, displaying respect for those I disagree with and using nice words instead of harsh rhetoric when posting. But Obama has done bupkis as President! Instead of people coming out to defend him, we need more coming out to criticize his lack of governing! Don't give our PRESIDENT a reason to be dead-weight. Don't root him on and congratulate him for a job poorly done. Instead, show the disappointment on a WIDE scale that he and his White House cannot compartmentalize and subsequently demonize as backwards opposition! Come out with your disappointment in his failings and keep him honest in his job! Be patriotic THAT WAY! It's not hard. He cannot make a decision on Afghanistan. His policies are not helping unemployment (the little bit of employment they did pick up cost a fortune to the taxpayer via the stimulus, and this 'saved' jobs BS is a myth as well). He and other liberals in power are trying to keep all policies as one-sided as possible. And it's to the point now where the ONLY thing Obama is doing is vacationing, making speeches, and critcizing his opposition while waging war against Fox. Now Dr. Phil wants to put himself out there in defense of the guy. lol Okay, fine. Whatever. I just wish more people would call him to task for the things he's not doing well at all -- like being our PRESIDENT! [matersfish]
In the beginning of Obama running for President I would say I think Obama was a wuss and a people pleaser. But then with all the good I saw with how he runs his family I decided to just trust the guy. Now here we are a year later and I am back to thinking he is a wuss and a people pleaser and that is why there is nothing done. Oh but actually I don't think my remarks cut it when it comes to Obama I have a fear in my heart that he is more calculating then we know! I give him credit for being a very smart man which scares me more because it is usually the smartest of people who tend to have the ability to calculate in such a way to manipulate to get what they want. I sure hope I am wrong. [CoffeeAnyone]

Hey Friendie! You are going to kill me when I tell you that I have no idea of what Obummers done now. I can, however, answer your question without that information. Oprah plays to the crowd. When in all reality she knows she controls most of the everyday people if you will. She has gotten the publics trust and loyalty by allowing herself and her personal issues to be broadcasted to the world. The Weight Loss issues, the abuse, the fact that she had smoked crack and last but not least her man issues have made her one of middle america. In doing this she has developed a following. If she says its good, its good. No questions ask. As far as Dr. Phil is concerned. You can visually see where he has changed over the years. From a psychiatrist to a star struck busy body who thinks he's a celebrity. I dont like him because he takes victims and uses their suffering for ratings. A lot of these people are not in their right minds to be making conscious decisions. When a psychiatrist, that helps the likes of Oprah, says come on my show and talk about it, who wouldnt? So No I dont think any view, opinions, or statements are his. I think Oprah controls all of that. She has become this powerful or important by herself. She got Phil his fame. He owes her. What better way than to vote Oprah's way?dl [dloveli]
I have watched the Oprah show for what? Twenty some odd years now; but never have I felt that her opinion was worth more then mine or others that I new personally and respected. I have never understood the concept of accepting everything a person says as gospel no matter who they are and especially TV personalities whom we really don't know from a whole in the ground. Through the years of watching Oprah, yaw of course she has done some really great things and said some wonderfully wise things; but it is those absolutely irrational whimsical to the point of foolish statements that she has made that keeps her no less then a mere human just trying to be the best that they can be in this world just like the rest of us. You take the good and leave the bad and realize that Oprah with out her show is no different then the rest of us. Richer maybe but no different! Sometimes we get it right and sometimes we get it wrong. Grant it, she has got a whole lot right but sad to say she has been led down a garden path in her personal life. (Based on what I see and hear on her show) You mentioned Dr. Phil and the changes through the years. I would say this was never more obvious than on one day when him and Robin walked out together on the show. Their celebrity bright teeth and botox faces. It was really sad to see! Sad to say to many of Dr Phil's shows have shown just how much he has sold out to the show biz world so I have declined from watching. It is too hard to take someone seriously when you hear and see how superficially they are presenting themselves. I think he should practice what he preaches and be true to himself. Yaw I still watch the Oprah show as there is more to her show then her but then again I have not thrown her out with the Bath water as I still respect her in many ways I just see her as flawed and aren't we all. On rare occasion I will watch the Dr. Phil show and that is when I am convinced this is a real show with real people that Dr Phil is not trying to impress anyone by forfeiting his own values so to please some one else. Mind you I have been wrong a few times on that theory! Sad that I think Dr Phil sold out to fame and popularity but it just goes to show us it could happen to any of us. We don't know how we would be unless we were in that situation ourselves. I like to think I would keep my cool but more then likely I would follow suit like everyone else. After all we are only human. [CoffeeAnyone]

I never liked him and it is possible that he had to to keep show grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr [Lakota12]

Well, I guess everyone, most especially those who think they're popular, has the greed for power and would like to have a shot at politics. It's sad though that sooner or later they'll be sucked up by greed and they'll never be the same again. Regardless who the Devil's advocate is, if a person's personality is really weak when it comes to self-control, then they could easily be influenced. I just hope that people stop looking at politics as the way to go, we lose good people that way. [laydee]

Heather- Dr. Phil is just someone who got famous because of Oprah. Though, he does present some good ideas in his books, his shows are almost out of control. He's been in trouble for violating patient confidentiality among other things. I do like him though, despite my feelings regarding Oprah right now. That said, I think it's wonderful he's standing up for Obama. Namaste-Anora [Anora_Eldorath]

It wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out Oprah is behind this. In my opinion Ophra is one of the most racist people I have ever heard talk. I like her shows and often watch her but it's obvious she's all about her own breed of people. [Grandmaof2]
I've been in the audience of her show...she only allows those audience members who agree with her to speak. That says it all for me. [debrakcarey]

Knowing what his political opinions have been, it is certainly unusual for him to do an about face. I think that there might be some pressure coming from every side, not just Oprah. And it seems to be the "popular" thing to do nowadays among the media. I don't think Oprah would give him an ultimatum, but I think she would certainly express her displeasure with him if he didn't do it. And he may feel like he has to keep her happy, even thought he wouldn't lose his job. If he caved for that reason, I say what a wuss. [AmbiePam]
Yes, and I like him too...mainly because he advocates using alternative methods in treatments. BUT...lately I've found out he's advocated getting a H1N1 vaccine...except for HIS wife and kids...hhhhhmmmmm? [debrakcarey]

Yeah, I might have known that Oprah was behind all of this. glare I am officially no longer watching anything that Dr. Phil is on, is the star of, or anything like that. It's sad, really--he's a good counselor, but it's a shame he can't see through the smoke and mirrors being thrown at him by the Obamanation's camp. [coolcoder]
Whiteheather, there's a book out now by the name of "Obamanation." I don't recall the author's name, but I'm sure you could Google it up. Maggiepie "OBAMA IS AN 'UNDOCUMENTED WORKER.'" [Maggiepie]

One may never know. Does it really matter who's opinion? If it was Oprah's, and he said it, then he must also believe it. [margieanneart]
OMG you are back....where have you been? It must be a year or so since I I have seen you on myLot. However I disagree as Dr. Phil is just making you sure he obeys Oprah's wishes as he is more or less her boss and he is well know for being her prodigy. [whiteheather39]

I too used to watch Dr Phil but like you realized that I can't stand Oprah and as an avid Oprah hater I'd not be in my best interests to watch her friend. I do think he's like her.....I don't think they'd be friends with opposite views. I am sorry you had to figure that out......I was crushed by so many of the Hollywood elite that I used to like until this last election and the crap that came out.....and I pretty much just watch old movies and sitcoms now....and don't ever, every watch anything like E! or any other entertainment stuff that might make me more disheartened with that group of people. I personally wish that they would just shut the hell up about their politics and let us alone.....because it forces people like me to have to change the channel. [hornswaggled]
I agree.....she's probably a nice person and all but just being nice isn't enough to make you a commentator or talk show host. Look at Rachel Maddow.....who ever thought she'd be a good commentator...sheesh...... [hornswaggled]

I don't know, and I guess one will never know. I don't worry too much if two friends happen to have the same political alliance. My husband and I are both Obama fans (Hubby's American) and we both support the liberals up here in Canada (I'm Canadian). The fact that we agree politically is GREAT because he can vote in American elections, I can vote in Canadian ones, and both of our opinions get noticed on both sides of the border. However, cynics could argue that we are Mr. & Mrs. Same vote, or something. Hell, we don't even have the same last name. Why would we only vote for a politician or party, because our spouse did? I am going to give Phil the benefit of the doubt, and hope that he voted for the candidate of his choice. I would still enjoy his show even if he voted for McCain, who I personally did not like, but just because I didn't like McCain doesn't mean I have a problem with my friends who did, or any other politician for that matter. [danishcanadian]

EWEWWEREE , tough question. I've always enjoyed, respected Dr. Phil, but really never a big fan of Oprahs. Not sure here. The one thing I am sure of is I am not a Bamaloonie !!! Keep watching and see if you can pick up on anything and then let us all know. quita88 [quita88]

I've never really been a fan of the so called "Dr." Phil or his show. I've never really liked watching someone capitalize on other people airing their dirty laundry for the sake of entertainment. People like him rather disgust me actually. I'm sure a lot of his viewers think he is a real psychologist but he is not. He used to be at one time but stopped practicing years ago and he let his license lapse back in 2006 so the term "doctor" can only refer to his level of education (Ph.D). If he was ever any good at it, I think he would still be doing it and not what he is doing now, which by his own words has nothing to do with psychology and everything to do with entertainment. I think it's pretty apparent that he knows who butters his bread and he's not going to do anything to jeopardize that, no matter what his personal feelings or political beliefs might be. What he does, he does for the money and maybe the fame, nothing more, so I suspect he's been told just what his opinion is. [millertime]

Personally I cant stand doctor Phil.... He is a pompous a$$ and I think he often does more damage than good to people who come on his show for help... He is quite simply a grand stander and says and does things on his show more for cheers than according to what his psychology degree says he should do.... I have heard rumors that he doesnt even have a degree but i think he actually does....he just doesnt respect it... Yes Oprah owns Dr Phils show and makes a ton off of it but as for their personal relationship they had a falling out several years ago... However I am a little dissapointed at the way Oprah acts at times to so Im not saying she is a saint either but then who is... I honestly believe that in time "the truth" will come out about Dr Phil...I get an uneasy feeling about him and i get the feeling he is really a sleezeball.... He is on top right now...but how many times has someone been there until their family FINALLY breaks their silence and tells everyone what a scumbag that person really is? I believe that is what will eventually happen to Phil too...of course I have nothing to base this on....just my gut feeling about him... And I thought the same thing about Dr Oz that someone else mentioned....I really like him and I hope he doesnt let the show go to his head and become a puppet like Phil has!! [pixeltwistr]

Last I heard, if you were born in the United States, you automatically became a citizen. Why does everyone think those Mexicans cross illegally near the end of their pregnancies? Once that baby is born here (US), they get automatic citizenship. And because they're so young, mom has to stay too. Obama's mom fell in love with an African man, and chose to honor & respect him with his culture's name. Obama grew up within his white mother's family. WHY are people still making a big phucking deal nearly a year after the election? I'm just amazed (read:heavy sarcastic voice) that we got through an election without having endless recounts! Ever think it was because a man whose last name is a derogatory nickname for woman's privates? Folks, you really need to quit worrying about this kind of stuff --I'm sure if there was any truth to it, the FBI or CIA would have proven him a fraud by now. Next thing, you'll blame the market problems that began 2 to 3 YEARS ago! [scorpiobabes]
Yes, Whiteheather, & maybe you've heard the newest wrinkle? The one that documents that Nancy Pelosi sent out 2 different versions of papers to the states about his having been determined to be eligible? If not, go to World Net Daily. It's really all the proof anyone who doesn't need their lips surgically removed from Obummer's patoot that this is THE "smoking gun" which shows he's lying about being born in Hawaii. The the entire history of this usurper's hoax & even the fake "birth certificate" he put up on his website is on WND!! The real BC is under lock & key--in Kenya. He can't show a Hawaiian BC because there's never been one. The real problem is that, since gummint skools stopped teaching civics & history, or as little of it as they can manage, we have a couple of generations which have grown up ignorant of the Constitution & its value! They don't get why it's illegal for Obama to be President, because few have even read the Constitution, & fewer still understand it. Most people are even ignorant of the Federalist Papers, written among the Founders, which explain much of their thinking. I guess it's up to those of us who do have the knowledge to "spread the wealth around," to coin a phrase...whistle Maggiepie "OBAMA IS AN 'UNDOCUMENTED WORKER.'" [Maggiepie]

You are probably right about there being a connection between Phils comments and his being supported by Oprah. [lotterylover]

I don't watch either Dr. Phil or Oprah, so I have no idea whether or not he has the courage to buck his producer. He seems fairly popular with the general public, so I would think he could get another producer if he had to and would, therefore, have the courage to say what he believes. I do think there are some people who "get on the bandwagon," so to speak, and go along because it's the "in" thing to do or because they don't want to make the effort to find out what's true. [6precious102]

I've never been a particular fan of Dr. Phil's, in fact I kind of think he's a pain in the neck, but I really have no reason to think what he's said is anything BUT his own opinion. I know I didn't get MY opinion from Oprah or anyone else...lol! Annie [anniepa]

I don't know, I do know if he is going to stay on Oprah's good side he is going to have to defend Obama. I think the birth certificate should be released but I think it is more important to have a court case that answers the question of whether Obama is a natural born citizen. A natural born citizen has two citizen parents. Obama's father was not a US citizen. [K46620]

He seems to be his own man in all things, so I'm thinking this is his mindset. I'm not surprised he's not studied the evidence, but has been persuaded by the propaganda. I was when Ann Coulter thought "birthers" were nuts! I would have sworn she'd do the homework & find out the truth! shocked I like Dr. Phil, but lately his show just hasn't done much for me. Too mushy or something. Maggiepie "OBAMA IS AN 'UNDOCUMENTED WORKER.'" [Maggiepie]
