President Bush has been quoted as saying that God told him to attack Iraq and Afghanistan. Did he really say this or is someone saying it as a joke? Are there anyone here who would believe him if he said it? Does anyone think that God would tell us to go to war and kill millions of innocent people? I see this is vastly different from world war II, when Hitler had to be stopped from taking over the free world, even then there was no divine intervention. So what do you think, has Bush got a hot line to heaven?
[question posted by Pose123]responses and comments:
I don't think that GOD told Bush to do anyhing. Only Satan could gie Bush the messages he's bee getting. [danishcanadian]
Hi danishcanadian, Thanks for commenting-and for your views. Blessings. [Pose123]
That is just a joke to me. Basically i don't believe in 'GOD' ordering people to kill people? Or rather if 'GOD' told us to live in harmony, i can still believe a bit. I can say i eat, just because God told me to? No, is because I'm hungry that all. [ahyi89]
Hi ahyi89, Thank you for commenting. I understand what you're saying here. Blessings. [Pose123]
I think lucifer told him that. He's prob not kiddin if he said it i think he's full of it. [halynn]
yvw & ty too! best wishes. [halynn]
angryOh that buthead would say anything he liked. Next morning he will wake up and say that god wanted me to destroy the US so I just blewup all the WMD's that were lying around in the US. Do you sincerely belive what he say, I mean I feel like laughing half the time when he opens his mouth to say something. I suppose the age is catching up on him and playing things on his brain, if he has one at all. whistle [amrishkj]
Hi amrishkj, Thank you for commenting. Blessings. [Pose123]
If I was to think anything of it, and I never seen or heard him say anything like that, but he could have I guess. I would take it to mean he prayed on what to do and he felt that god told him to follow his heart and what he felt was right. I get so tired of hearing people bash Bush for Iraq, everyone was all for it at first. I think he done what he did based on what information he was told. I think he did the people of Iraq a good deed in taking out someone that at a monents notice would go out and pick a bunch and kill them off. Who was so cruel that he didn't allow any of the Iraqi people to even be alllowed to eat or buy meat. What kind of life did those people have, it is not them that is killing our men over there. Hussen had weapons of mass distruction he used on his own people, who is to say that one day he would not of used them on us. Apresident is only as good as the information that is passed to him, and I would say they do a lot of praying over what discissions to make. And any little thing the people want to bash him for a statement or turn it around to suit them. Wait till Obama gets in with his weird way of handling the foreign enemies and see how long it takes before another 911,then we will see how much Bush done for us, because with out his wiretaps we would of been hit again way back. All they are waiting on is Obama to get inoffice because he is against anything that they would have to show ids for and they know it will be an easy entry into the usa, so anyone who makes fun of Bush , he has kept us safe from another attack, useless Obama will just make it easier for them and I hope he don't pray about it since he spent 20 eyars hearing how we as americans are no good. [bdugas]
Hi bdugas, Thank you for your comments. I am getting many different opinions here. Blessings. [Pose123]
holy rusted Metal batman- wouldnt surprise me one bit if he thought or said something like that. and if it was divine intervention then all the christians should be pleased since, well the end of the world will be apon us soon. but who is to say it wasnt from God that it was. but i will do some research and see if the acusations are true. i think it would be funny if it was. i have been telling people for a while now that it is our generation that is destined for these things. and maybe i am wrong - time will cetainly tell. [pukaprat2]
Hi pukaprat2, According to a BBC report President Bush made this statement during a meeting with Palestinian leaders in June of 2003. I read a comment about it, so I just googled and read the article. What's said and what is reported is not always the same. Blessings. [Pose123]
I believe that Bush thinks he is God. So of course he told himself. Translation: I told myself= God told me to. Bush has pretty much said he could do whatever he wants. [Ruthep]
Hi Ruthep, Thank you for your comments. Blessings. [Pose123]
It could have been a joke, but it also could be that God gave Bush the incite into making the decision. That is one thing about God that non believers including pagans do not understand. They think that God will speak in an audible voice or in a dream and say, "Saddam Hussain is evil, destroy him and Iraq and also Afghanistan<" because that is what a pagan would believe that their god or goddess will appear in a vision, but God is not like that. He will open up a man's heart so he can do what HE wants. So it may be that God put into Bush's heart that Saddam was supporting terrorism. Oh there is such a thing as a just and an unjust war. I am sure that there are Germans who think that the 2nd World War was unjust because they did not support Hitler and why should their city get bombed? Just as there are Iraqis who think that the war in Iraq is unjust because their neighborhood got bombed. But we have no idea whether had Saddam Hussain still been around, that Iraq would have become a friend to the States, or whether Saddam would have taken over all the Middle East and ordered max executions and torture of all his opponents. You see, there were innocent Germans killed by the Allied bombs. Yet your only concern is for the innocent Iraqis and Afghanistans. So who are the more worthy of life, the blond haired woman with her four children who perished when the bombs hit Cologne or the dark haired woman and her four children who perished when the bombs hit her village in Iraq? [suspenseful]
Hi suspenseful, Thank for for expressing your opinion. Blessings. [Pose123]
Who knows what goes on in that man's head? I am so sick of people telling me that Saddam was a bad man. Is it up to us to kill every bad man in charge of a country? And get so many of our young men and women killed doing it? Saddam was not aligned with terrorist; he didn't agree with anything about them. He didn't have WMDs at the time we attacked; he did previously, but the inspectors were doing a good job. No one every found any WMDs. But there are some stubborn people who still believe he had them. The terrorists came from Afghanistan. Now, we finally see that we dropped the ball there by sending all our troops to Iraq. If G-d spoke to GW, he didn't listen very well. I know that G-d isn't responsible for the mess this country is in now; GW is and we are all suffering for it. [mcat19]
God didn't tell that bum no such a thing! He lies like a rug. [CyberChat]
God told Bush to catch Osama Bin Laden alive or dead. [shambhujit]
Hi shambhujit, Thanks for commenting. Blessings. [Pose123]
Well I am thinking back to the day the war in Iraq began. Hmm..I had Grape Nuts with peanut butter that morning for breakfast. Than went to work, and came home, watched the news and went to bed. No I did not tell Bush to attack Iraq nor did I give give anyone the authority to do so. There you have it. [N4life]
Hi N4life, Wow! That's a relief. Thanks for responding. Blessings. [Pose123]
I think you really need to locate where you learn this information and place the link to that information here with your post, otherwise it boils down to gossip. I have never heard any such thing from the lips of my president or from any where else for that matter. If your Bible educated then you know King David was sent by God to slaughtered thousands upon thousands and maybe even millions of people more then once. It appears to me the many thousands plus that King David and his army killed apparently was not good in the sight of God. What man may call good and innocent possible is not good and innocent in the sight of God. Are you speaking of Japan when the United States dropped bombs on Japan back after they attacked Pearl Harbor? Yes,sadly millions of lives was lost that awful day,had Japan not pulled a sneak attack on the United States, murdering our service men and burning our fleets of Navy ships. This came about due to very poor judgment with the Japanese government, the results of poor judgment, the results went down in the history. A good lesson a nation must have very good judgment in such matters,if they do not millions of their people can be dead in a heart beat, This is the very reason the United States of American is willing to talk to the leaders of Iran,to prevent death to a nation. The United States has the capability to wipe Iran off thee face of the whole earth. As an American I had to smile when the leader of Iran came to my country and called my president Satan, had George W. Bush been any thing close to being Satan,Iran today would be just a memory. I don't believe correct me if I'm wrong the United State picks fights with other nations, but she will give a damn good fight when she is attacked first. Hitler could had and should had been stopped their was plenty of advance warning and plenty of red flags, the whole world set back and watch, history has penned the results. The latest horrific murder was Saddam Hussein iron fist muslin leader of Iraq. Saddam with his sons and vast many gorilla guards for many years tortured the Iraqi people by the millions year in and year out, tortures the men till they could take no more, thousand of bodies was dumped in big hole at one time, the country had so many dumping sites, women was taken out and shot in the head, children was raped and murdered day in and day out during his long period of human bondage. Saddam Hussein stole all the people money totaling billions and billions of dollars, built monuments in honor of himself. His people was beat, starved and murdered in cold blood this was their life's,if you can call this life. Saddam Hussein ruled his people with an iron fit,Saddam Hussein went down in history as one of the most cold blooded murder of our history. Today Iraq's men, women, children live a much happier life, they are free of terrorism of the worst kind,God beings he is God has his way of taking out people that are not good in his sight. George W. Bush not being a perfect human being understanding clearly he is a sinner, believes in God and Jesus Christ the son of God,he is a praying man. George W. Bush understand the meaning of commitment in the word marriage, his lovely wife Laura Bush is a very remarkable women,The Bush's have had a long and seemly happy marriage. George W. Bush understands the meaning of commitment as a father,he has been a caring and loving father to his three children, seemly having the respect of his adult children. If your a Bible student then you know God says their will be war's until the end of this world history, and so it is. You would also know God stands on the side of whom believes in his son Jesus Christ, out side of this their is no safety what so ever. [kennyrose]
Hello again. After my last comment I just wanted to add that everyone is entitled to their beliefs. While I am not big on religion I do respect other's beliefs. Just thought I came off stronger than I intended. :) [N4life]
A WAR Monger is a WAR monger, same as Daddy and the same as Grand Pappy. The only thing the Bush family live on is WARS.They feed from the DEAD. The Bush Family are responsible for Thousands of Deaths of US and allied troops. Big statement, Bet Im RIGHT, Just look up (History),what the Bush family have done. And WHOS tables they have sat at to Break bread with. Its good there will be a change at the White House, Now US may breath again and get rid of the stench, that has been there for a long time. HICCUP/ [hiccup]
Hi hiccup, Thank you for commenting. Blessings. [Pose123]
I know god doesn´t tell anyone anything. How can a thing that not exist, tell you anything? [Lucky_strike]
Hi Lucky, Thanks for your thoughts. Blessings. [Pose123]
i think it was a excuse for his fault. we was told there were biochemical weapon in Irag, but the truth is no. how could Bush suppose to say? god told him would be a good explanation. [berniebky]
Hi berniebky, Thanks for commenting. Did he really think anyone would believe him? Blessings. [Pose123]
I think Bush got day dream to tell like that. [sathishanand2006]
Hi sathishanand, Thank you for your comment. Blessings. [Pose123]
I dont believe anything that Bush says.....I would say there is a better chance that Bush speaks to Satan, maybe the devil told him to attack!! [angemac23]
Hi angemac, Thanks for commenting. I really don't believe that anyone spoke to him. Blessings. [Pose123]
Hi Pose123! What? If he really did say that, I think your president has a great imagination. Who would believe that God will ask anyone to kill anyone? Only the one below who is surrounded by fire loves war and blood. I think Bush has a hot line down below! Take care and God Bless! [faith210]
Hi faith, Thank you for your comment. He probably didn't say it at all, it may just be gossip. Blessings. [Pose123]
I'm going to make this brief. The God of oil may have told him to go into Iraq. And Afghanastan. And maybe soon Iran with Israel's help . To say this is vastly different from World War 2 is completely wrong. Similarities abound. Hitler had the Riechstad burned and blamed it on terrorists of the time. Bush had 9/11 and blamed it on terrorists. Your rights and freedoms have deteriorated all in the name of security. To question them gets you labeled a terrorist. The only difference is that this time the facism starts in America with Bush and all his NWO cronies and god is not involved. [notfauxnews]
Well Hitler, I mean Bush, has already invaded Iraq, Afghanistan and possibly Iran very soon. Who was Hitler liberating these countries he invaded from? My parents grew up in war torn Europe and hhad no problems with the political system in Holland, so why was it invaded? Bush uses the facade of liberation to fulfill his own agenda which would be oil. [notfauxnews]
Isn't God supposed to be about LOVE, not HATE? So why would he tell anybody to KILL? There is a Commandment AGAINST killing. Why would he go against his own Commandments? When people start saying God told them to do something that we all know is clearly wrong, they are just using it as an excuse to further their OWN agenda. I think if God was going to talk to anybody, it wouldn't be Bush! [thelastwolf113]
Hi lastwolf, Thank you for your comments, you make sense to me. Blessings. [Pose123]
I have heard that President Bush is a praying man. It is not impossible that God led President Bush in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Luke 22:36 the Lord said "if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." In the Old Testament, God commanded the nation of Israel to destroy nations of people, not even leaving their animals alive, to achieve his will. No one can say that God is anti-war, but we can say he often achieves his will on earth by using nations and warfare. Only in the scope of eternity can we tell for what purposes these wars have been waged. We don't have enough information, with our limited views, to judge them just or unjust wars. [clrumfelt]
Hi drumfelt, Thank you for your comments. It's true that we don't have enough information and our views are certainly limited. Blessings. [Pose123]
i dont believe so however i feel he definatly uses God for his own purposes and for this he is wrong remember not everyone who calls "lord lord" is a christian [revdauphinee]
you are most welcome [revdauphinee]
No, God will never tell people to go to war ,but remember that american soldiers are fighting for freedom ,and these terrorists are not innocent people. These people are savages who are the ones who kill innocent people. These extremist are very much like communist ,and they will kill you if you don't follow their ideas. I don't like to see people getting kill and in a war sometimes innocent people pay the price ,but we need to eliminate these terrorists because they are a threat to world peace. Is very hard to negotiate with fanatics who only accept one particulare point of view. On the other hand, it was a mistake to attack Iraq ,and we should had remain in Afghanistan and make this country stable. Well, we are already in Iraq ,so we need to finish the job and look for better strategics ,so we can get out of there as soon as possible. I don't believe in War ,but sometimes is the only way to bring democracy to a country. I wish that we could bring democracy to Cuba and liberate cubans from years of oppression. [Mirita]
Hi Mirita, Thank you for responding. I don't think that soldiers from outside will ever bring peace to either Iraq or Afghanistan, their whole way of life is different ours. They will have to work things out for themselves, however long it takes. Canadian soldiers are now in Afghanistan along with others, but they will eventually have to leave. I figure things will be back the way they were in less than three months, meanwhile many young men and women will have died all to no avail. I too would like to see democracy in these countries and certainly in your beloved Cuba. Someday the Cuban people will rise up and demand it, than it will happen. Blessings. [Pose123]
Anyone who told you that they heard Bush say that God told him to attack Iraq or Afghanistan is pulling your leg. [tizzo692]
Hi tizzo, Thanks for responding, guess you're right. Blessings. [Pose123]
Words to that effect were supposedly exchanged in a private meeting Bush had with Palestinian leaders in 2003. I find it doubtful that's what he said. I do believe he said these words, though, in an interview with Bob Woodward: "I'm surely not going to justify war based upon God. Understand that. Nevertheless, in my case, I pray that I will be as good a messenger of His will as possible. And then of course, I pray for forgiveness." Remember, our military is not killing millions. The terrorists in that country are the ones doing most of the killing. [kenzie45230]
Hi kenzie, I guess it's just gossip. Thanks for commenting. Blessings. [Pose123]
When Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and wanted to move into Saudi Arabia Bush sr wanted to free Kuwait and hence operation desert strom the first Gulf war took place and forced Iraqi troops to back off. This further led Bush jr to speculate that Saddam hussein tried to kill his father when Bush Sr went to kuwait to celebrate the truimph of gulf war. So this looks more like a personal rivalry to me to end Saddam husseins rule and make him bend on his knees to beg for his life. later as things went out of controll they hanged him . There were no weapons of mass destruction or any axis of evil. everything was done for Geoge Bush sr to make for his fathers failed assasination bid. But Americans are paying heavy for this. [pradysgirl]
Hi pradysgirl, Thanks for your thoughts on this. Blessings. [Pose123]
I can believe if he said that God told him to attack, and you aren't the first person that I have heard say this, but at this point in time I really do not know what to think simply because I just don't know any more. I do believe that there was WMD in Iraq, I do believe that some may have been moved, and I believe some are still there, even old ones that might pack some punch and sickness, But,on the same hand I really despise that people sometimes use God told me to, for the lack of having any better excuse to use. Mooch [oneandonemakesix]
Hi Mooch, Thank you for your thoughts on this. Blessings. [Pose123]
God has been responsible for telling men to do anything that would be opposed by the masses, especially acts of greed. God told Oral Roberts to collect 8 million dollars or he'll die back in the late 1980's. God told David Koresh to gather his followers take all their worldly possessions and hide on a Farm in Waco,TX. God told Ferdinand II back in the 1400's to issue punishment to all non-christians for not declaring the faith of his kingdom. You know for an all supreme being in the universe that can probably blow a galaxy out of his nose at will, You'd think God has better things to do than tell men to do evil things to each one another. The devil on the other hand... [mrghill]
Hi mrghill, Thanks for responding, seems we think alike about some things. Blessings [Pose123]
this is the part where one has to choose between two dominant evils, and george w. bush chose the less evil one. capturing saddam hussein and subjecting him to the law of iraq which put an end to his life also put an end the destruction that he had started doing. for a tyrant who wants to rule the world with nuclear weapons, and all the countries in the world just submit to that, i dont think anyone of us can truly say, "it's a free world." he was going to make a bigger iraq out of the the world. i'm glad there's one and a few behind him who didn't let that happen. [jinglebee]
Hi jinglebee, Thank you for expressing your thoughts on this. Blessings. [Pose123]
suppose you have a strong urge to defecate in the morning but the situation outside is bit tensed. but you can not control your urge. you are simply overwhelmed. there you try to quote god and take his help. in a very similar way, he wanted some of his troops to go and hang in iraq. he wanted to advertise his strength and military power. that is why he did all this. bush wanted other nations to see the new gizmos of america so that he can have a huge profit making business by selling the new technology weapons and gadgets. [painkiller77]
Hi painkiller, Thank you for responding and for your comments. Blessings. [Pose123]
Bush is just giving excuses for the damage he has done to Iraq and Afghanistan. What more can he say? Millions of innocent people killed. Nations destroyed. And yet Osama Ben Laden that he wants to capture is still free. Saddam Hussein is dead but there is no report of nuclear power in Iraq as Bush claim. Bush is just a human being like any of us. The only difference he is the leader of powerful nation who has the means and ways to go to war with any country he chooses for the reasons only God knows. [inia_54]
Hi inia, Thank you for responding and for your thoughts on this. Blessings. [Pose123]
I dont think that bush will say that. He will be accused of being a lunatic if he would claim that.lol [WATARIKENJI]
Hi WATARIKENJI, Thank you for commenting. I think you are right. Blessings. [Pose123]
Well I never heard him say that he probably said it to a friend as a joke. On a matter like that he would have needed to be fasting for more than forty days and praying and spending quiet time in the presence of the Lord. And he was in public a lot so he could not have consulted properly with God on that matter. [bonita45]
Hi Bonita, Thanks for commenting. Blessings. [Pose123]
No, God does not tell anyone to do anything. People make their own decisions and they need to starting taking responsibility for those decisions instead of blaming everything on God. [rogue13xmen13]
Hi rogue13xmen13, Thank you for responding. I totally agree with you. Blessings. [Pose123]
No because I am not privy to Bush's private conversations with God much as I am also not privy with the consversations of these Al Queda killers with "their god". On a more serious note, I do not think the real God tells people to go murdering others, but they sure have the right to defend themselves. [Bugsey]
Hi Bugsey, Thank you for your response. Blessings. [Pose123]
His god might have told him, but the I am sure the God of the Bible would not tell him. The war in Iraq is never a fair one. How could he justify war when he could not find the WMD? It was just to cover up his private agenda that he brought in the name of God. But yes, it can be possible if he is worshiping a local god and not God of the Bible... and local god tells whatever the worshiper wants to hear cos the worshiper has created such a god that will tell him only what he wants to hear. [headhunter525]
Hi headhunter, Thank you for expressing your thoughts on this. Blessings. [Pose123]
I think you would have to ask God that question. [RebeccaLynn]
Hi RebeccaLynn, Thanks for that comment. Blessings. [Pose123]
I think it's a joke. Anyway Bush is famous for many such goof ups and I wont be surprised if he actually meant something else. He's not got a hotline to heaven, he's just got good anticipation of the future in trying to secure an oil-rich nation and a natural-gas rich nation for his own country (cant really blame his patriotism for that) but horrible planning and terrible advisors. [sudiptacallingu]
Hi sudiptacallingu, Thank you for commenting. I too think that it's just a joke. Blessings. [Pose123]
