George W. Bush is going to give his farewell speech in a few minutes and I was wondering if all my fellow Americans are planning on watching him. Will he finally show some humility or will he still be his same old cowboy self?
Post now before the speech or post afterwards and tell us what you thought - or both if you'd like!

Heck No..I'd rather he just quietly left and stayed away from the Tv..shoot now i have to stay on here...lol.. [Rosekitty]
He hasn't seemed to be able to stay OFF the TV these past few weeks, has he? Annie [anniepa]
I highly doubt it. Wouldnt want to waste my time listening to more of his b.s. lol. [jenrl17]
Well if the airplane crash does not upstage him and get actually gets on I may flip back and forth and watch some of it. Depends...if I find a rerun of "House" on it will win. [lilwonders456]
I do not think he wanted people to accept or forgive....just understand. For all we know there were so many terrorist already in this country that it kept him and the governmnet very busy. Who knows.MOst of that info is proble classified and not open to public record so it will be years before we actually know if it really took up so much of his time or was just an excuse. [lilwonders456]
I'm in Canada but I plan to watch it when it comes on later. I will be glad when it's all over, bet you all feel the same way as well. I think it's time for a change and we need one too. [Grandmaof2]
Dittos here! Annie [anniepa]
Well so far it seems like the same old speeches we have heard for the past 8 years. I say farewell President Bush, may he take the bad economy with him lol [ZephyrSun]
lol, happy He did bing it to us!So he can take it back.Huh? [dfollin]
I'm not watching...I hate farewell speeches, whether I like the person or not. Besides, he's up against a rerun of House that I've seen at least 20 times. I mighta missed something important before. happy Let me know how the speech went. [spalladino]
We are on the east coast and it is on now and I am watching it. [dfollin]
I know that I will be watching it. I in a way hate to see him ago, I may be the only American saying this, not that he hasn't screwed up or anything, because he has in so many ways. But I'll be happy on welcoming a new President. I guess I will have to post as well after watching and say what I think. I don't know what to think on how his speech will be until after I see it. Maybe a tiny ounce of me will think that he will have some humility. [trisha_nava82]
It was over so fast and you didn't really miss much..now CSI is on and i can watch tv..lol.. [Rosekitty]
Hi Annie: No, I am watching "The First 48" on A&E and then I will be watching the premere of Patrick Swayze "The Beast". But keep us posted...well on the highlights LOL [cjrwells]
LOL Annie so right you are!!!!!!!! [cjrwells]
In a word "nope", in 2 words "no way." I am anxious for the new administration to take office. [ElusiveButterfly]
*jumping up and down* Wish I could be there. [cjrwells]
I'll have to read about it - I didn't know about it until just before and I have no plans to listen to his voice ever again if I can avoid it. Can't stand listening to him. But, I'll read about him and what he said and how he said it. I'd rather he just slinked quietly away like the slug that he is. [jerzgirl]
Damn - I must be tired. KNOW-it-all teenager. Good grief. [jerzgirl]
Nope, I didn't watch it, I put a DVD in the player and my wife and I watched a movie while she baked some cookies. [iriscot]
Wow, sounds kind of anti-American to me...lol! I've been singing a song I'm making up called "Bye Bye George" to the tune of the Everly Brothers' "Bye Bye Love"! Annie [anniepa]
No, I didn't. I didn't know it was even on, not that I would've watched it anyway. After the day I've had had, the last thing I need is Bush on my TV! [cripfemme]
Hey annie! No! No! No! I don't care what he has to say! I didn't watch him when he was in office and I don't want to hear him on his way out! I just want him to go! I was watching the news for a minute tonight with my boyfriend and he came on and I got up to leave the room immediately and my bf asked me what I was doing and didn't I want to hear Bush! I said No! I continued walking out of the room! Did he say Good-Bye? [Opal26]
I am in Canada, so we watched CSI since it was Grissom's last day. As for speeches since you are a Bush hater and probably had been since his inauguration, (with you, he did not have a chance even if he would have been like Reagan) I am not going to give you the satisfaction by watching and saying that he was humble and apologized so you can gloat. However I am going to watch what Obama does. But I am not going to gloat if he raises the taxes and if America has not entered the period of peace and prosperity you thought it would have. Oh and unlike you, I do not rant. [suspenseful]
I agree with you annie, why should Canadians be sticking their noses in our politics anyway? They probably have their own problems that they should be working on. Most people with any sense know that Bush stole the election in 2000 so he shouldn't even have been there to give a farewell speech. Amen! [iriscot]
I do not plan to watch it. I have heard enough of what he has had to say for eight years now. I will be glad when he is outta there. [stephcjh]
We should have a "virtual party" on Tuesday to celebrate the end of ournational nightmare! Annie [anniepa]
Annie, The truth is George W. Bush inherited a recession from former president Bill Clinton. I missed the speech had a unexpected errand I had to run but hope to catch it on viedo. My belief system is to be respectful to my commander in chief even when I may disagree, one can disagree but to be disrespectful is uncalled for. Because I'm an American citizen out side of government I have no way of knowing what is happening on the inside this may lead me to question my president but that dose not mean he is not doing his very best to protect the homeland. As I have said many times the past eight year's me and all of my family and it is a very big family have had excellent life's and we do count our blessings. I have three grand children that have either graduated from collage with top honors or entering collage with honors and scholarships,my 26 yr old grand daughter is in her second year of collage majoring in a certain area of law. My husband and I bought a home three year's ago and we have paid off all major accounts other then our home. My husband has missed one day of work in nine year's due to being sick,he took two weeks off after surgery in 2002,we have archived the American dream by consistence hard work and dedication, we are so very blessed to be American's. I wish president George W. Bush and the first lady (Laura) life's very best, they are a fine example of a solid lasting marriage in the good times and the bad times. I trust with this nation on president Bush's shoulders for eight year his burdens have been many, the wearing of time I clearly see in his eye's and the lines upon his face attest to this truth he has carried this nation up his shoulders twenty-four seven for eight very long year's. President Bush has endured and faced head on more problems then any president of my time, the attack on the world trade center,on it's heels the anthrax ordeal, storms of biblical portions,Iraq and all the troubles with Iran, and the list is endless. I appreciate that president Bush can disagree with another person with dignity and grace being respectful that is truly a art. Below is a list of some very good thing's president George W. Bush did for the American people Through it all President Bush did more for the people in Africa suffering from aid then any one has ever done as the president of the United States of American and for that he is a hero in my eye's. The president followed through on his promise to cut taxes, lower most of the marginal rates, increase the child tax credit, decrease the marriage penalty and cut the capital gains tax rate. Opponents say this was a tax cut for the rich, although IRS figures indicate that the rich saw an increase in their share of taxes paid. Prescription drug benefits for Medicare have received overwhelming approval among seniors in polls conducted. Bush also promoted and provided tax benefits for individual Health Savings Accounts, which grew in popularity for self-employed workers. When I see the farewell speech I know with out question I will be brushing away tear's,saying fair well to my president Knowing he is not a perfect human being and he is subject to making mistakes but I understand many others helped make these horrific life and death decisions everyday for the pass eight year's and I thank all the brave American's who have dedicated their life's to this country. Last I'm so very happy for president George Bush and his gracious wife Laura they soon will return to the home they so love in Texas and maybe start pushing for them grand babies, May God Bless President George W. Bush and his charming family,God's speed Mr President. Rose [kennyrose]
You go Annie...........couldn't have said it better myself. [OLIJULSAR]
I don't think I will be watching it. I don't think he will have anymore to say then what he has said over the last eight years. I just wonder what he is going to do now that he doesn't have to make all of the decisions on what to do for the day in the life of America? [OLIJULSAR]
I didn't realize it was going to be on. I went into the living room at 8pm to watch My Name Is Earl on NBC and instead the president was on. Ugh! I hate when they interrupt TV for the presidential speaches, lol. I changed the channel and watched some reruns of Friends instead. I'm not big on politics. My husband listens to new radio, so I get all the information I need from him. [katsmeow1213]
ya i do want to watch bush farewell speech as he was one the man to whom i inspire so i wanted to see bush farewell speech as soon it comes but i don't know when it is going to be telecasted in tv [aristrocrat195]
I think he showed some humility and a little cowboy. He wouldn't be W if he didn't show a little of that. I honestly have to say that while I'm not a big fan of Bush- it was a good speech and I don't think his approval rating should be as low as it is. Nixon and Carter were much worse than him by far. As he said, we haven't been attacked here again, he has improved medicare, and improved veteran's benefits as they do deserve it. Bush is being blamed for everything and honestly if I look closer at it, the blame at least part of it- should go to the democratic house. I'm not going to sit here and bash democrat's- (you know me better Annie :) but Pelosi and her house aren't being blamed for anything when they played a big part in this whole financial decline with this mortgage crap. When are Barney Frank/Freddie Mac going to be held accountable for something? Bush should have stopped that insanity and didn't- that's what he did wrong among a few other things but to sit and beat on him relentlessly isn't fair especially when it comes to the highest office in our nation. There hasn't been any president really that hasn't done something wrong but Bush has definitely been most beat up on. I almost feel sorry for the guy- no matter what- the President should be respected. But at least, on Good Morning America the other day Pelosi did say that these bailout's and any misspending are on Obama. That is after she was done pointing the finger at Bush. Already, it's sad to say, that some of these corporations are already asking for more money so the money may already be mismanaged even though the house said they were going to keep tabs on it to make sure it was being used properly to get the economy going again. So I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens but one has to wonder when we can't blame Bush anymore who the public will blame. It's good to see you- I have missed your discussions. I look forward to some more. [skinnychick]
Annie, This is my stand on your question, never in my life time have I had to question is my president an American citizen. If Barack Obama had done the right thing and had respect for the United States constitution and all of the voter's in the united States he would had made clearly available he vault birth certificate, instead his true vault birth certificate has remained sealed and he hired very powerful attorneys to help keep it sealed. Had Barack Obama done the right thing in this very important constitutional matter and cleared this up right away with the questioning American voter's that would had been the correct thing to do,instead he fought it and hide behind his powerful attorneys. People that have noting to hide do not hide things,so the right thing in this matter has not been done and the blame lays with Barack Obama. With this said Barack Obama has not earned my respect,in my world view respect is earned and no handed out like gum drops. There is a case coming up in regaurd to the constitutional question is Barack Obama a American citizen,a United States Naval officer has filed a class action case against Barack Obama. The thinking of this top Navy man is this, he has serious questions in regard to Barack Obama being an American citizen,if in fact Barack obama is hiding his vault birth certificate behind a court seal and his powerful attorneys because he knows he is not an American citizen,he believes sincerely he can not take any orders from Barack obama because a president of the United States has to be an American citizen it is a United States constitutional requirement. This Navy Officer seems to have a legitimate question and Barack Obama needs to step up to the plate and be the transparent president he claimed that he would be,so he should rightfully start his transparency with his true vault birth certificate. This is my ongoing first problem in regard to Barack Obama, next is for me on January 20,2009 this is not an historical event in the United States,Barack Obama is bi-racial,the womb of a white woman can not produce a black Africa child,it can not be done. Barack Obama is same as president Abe Lincoln bi-racial having a white mother and a black father,to date the United States has not elected a black man for the office of president of the United States of American. I'm an American voter that feels very cheat by Barack Obama, for two year's he has refused to produce his true birth certificate so I have no way of knowing if the man is an American citizen,as well the last figure I heard January 20,2009 cost is at 95 million dollar's,I will not ever watch any person place their hand on the Holy Bible and swear any thing if I can not believe they are honest and upright, commandment "tho shall not lie",with that said I have choose to go shopping all day January 20,2009 and for two day's or so their after our T.V. will be off because me and my family have not bought in to the lie. Until Barack Obama calls off all his powerful attorneys and dose the right thing which is reveal his vault birth certificate I have no way of actually knowing who the man really is. I'm sadden in some way's I can not join in on your joy but I just can not buy in a lie and for sure many have became rich selling the lie in the form of coins, plates, and even condone for crying out loud, this is not a historical event and only lives in the minds of them that wants it to be,sorry fantasy is not real. So I hope this has answered your question in regurd will I respect Barack Obama as the president of the United States of American. [kennyrose]
Oh, I see...thanks for the explanation! Annie [anniepa]
I watched it. He was the same as always. I can't believe he actually believes what he said. [Bd200789]
I know, I can't either. I just love his knack for "understating" things as in the fact no WMD's were found was a "disappointment"! I think it was a little more than a disappointment to the families of those who gave their lives in Iraq. Annie [anniepa]
Annie, I watched with the volume turned down. How can I speak about the man if I have no clue what he said. Only kidding, I just could not listen to his lies that spew so freely. I hope your gut is right on this new turning event in our lives and that Mr. Obama can and will change the mess that has now been placed upon his plate. My thoughts and prayers are not only with him but his family and supporters at this time. Ainge [Aingealicia]
