Local Election (s)news

County Question 1 ($0.0025 sales tax for arts and sports) goes down in flames, and there was much rejoicing.

It was rejected by 4 of the 5 counties voting on it. The only county to vote for it was Jackson County MO, which, oddly enough, is where all the arts and sports projects are located.

Go figure.

Oh, yeah, and there was another election going on... what was that for?

I wonder who thought they could con all five counties into backing it? Sounds like someone had their reality distortion field up a notch too high.

Unfortunately, in Denver metro area, several variations of that con worked. The "SCFD" district which subsidizes things like the library got extra money for no good reason and a laughable RTD proposal to hike sales tax fraction for building more uneconomical light rail with a bond payback of 43 years!
