Well, Well, Well

Looks like there was a site attack. In two days, in five visits and with only two IP addresses over 64% of my bandwidth was sucked up. The listed IP address is IANA or theplanet.com.

The amazing thing was trying to convince the people at my hosting service something was amiss. Apparently if one of their cars accelerated from 40 mph to 800 mph they wouldn't be alarmed.

You should ask your hosting service to block the IP address at the router. If they won't do this for you, definately change your hosting service.

Is this a badge of importance? A mark of notoriety? Or just a random attack?

Dave,

Don't know. My hosting service doesn't think this was an attack. I don't know what else it can be (and frankly neither do they). I like to think of it as a badge of honor.

Glenn,

It's done already. Hopefully that will be the end of it. If it happens again I'm moving hosting services. Although I must confess I'm thinking of moving anyways. I can get more bandwidth per month, more server space, and for less money (if I sign up for a full year). Plus they actually have a phone number with real people for billing, sales, and tech support.

Real people for billing & tech support? What country do you live in?
