More Krugmania

I'm quite sure Prof. Krugman will write an Op-Ed denouncing this kind of cronyism. Then again maybe not. If there is one thing Krugman does not do, that is look at the warts on the Democratic Party.

But if Ah-nold can't get things at these state boards and commissions to work, it WON'T be because Davis packed 'em w/ his cronies, but b/c he's ineffectual, as a mere Hollywood actor, to understand the difficulties of governance.

Marion Barry did the same thing a few years back to the hapless Sharon Pratt-Kelly, when she was voted in and interfered w/ Mayor-for-Life's strip mining of the city's finances.

Looks like the California Senate is having second thoughts about confirming all of these appointments:

http://www.washtimes.com/national/aroundnation.htm

{about 1/2 way down the column]

"Dozens of last-minute appointments by lame-duck Gov. Gray Davis were thrown into doubt yesterday after the Senate's leader said lawmakers would not reconvene to confirm the nominations before Mr. Davis leaves office.

{snip}

Senate President Pro Tem John Burton had planned to have the Senate meet before Mr. Davis, a fellow Democrat, leaves office. But other senators expressed reluctance to confirm so many appointments by the first governor in California history to be recalled.

No shit, they finally wised up enough to realize that hitching their political futures to Davis isn't a great idea.
